Today I visited a spot on Seomyeon's Jeonpo Café Street where you can enjoy pork gukbap (Busan's classic pork bone soup) with a bit of a twist! It's called "Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch"! I heard it's a gukbap specialist that reinterprets Busan's soul food in a modern way rather than sticking to the traditional method, so I went in curious 🧐
They started in Jeonpo-dong back in 2019 and have been rolling out various menu items since then! Let me share my honest review of the flavor here.
Where is Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap on Jeonpo Café Street, and when is it open?
Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap, Seomyeon Jeonpo Café Street Main Branch is at 43 Jeonpo-daero209beon-gil, 1F, Busanjin-gu, Busan, 336m from Jeonpo Station Exit 7. It's open daily 11:00–20:30, with a break time from 16:00 to 17:00. Paid parking is available, and you can use Ssangyong Parking Lot.

If you walk up just a bit from Jeonpo Station Exit 7, you'll find it right there! I was especially caught by the big sign reading "gukbap + suyuk (boiled pork) 9,900 won" — it really grabbed my attention. The big logo is visible from far away too, so it was easy to find.
Kiosk ordering and 15% Dongbaekjeon cashback

You order easily through the kiosk! 📍If you use Busan's Dongbaekjeon payment card, they say you get a total of 15% cashback on top of the basic cashback! If you use Dongbaekjeon, don't miss out on this perk — grab it smartly :)
How much does the menu cost at Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap?

- 📌Gukbap + suyuk set: ₩9,900
- 📌Gukbap + karaage set: ₩11,500
- ✔️Sanbandeul pork gukbap (signature menu): ₩8,900
- ✔️Spicy pork gukbap (spice level selectable): ₩8,900
- ✔️Miso soybean pork gukbap: ₩8,900
- ✔️Bone broth pork gukbap: ₩7,900

No way!! In this era of sky-high prices, gukbap for 8,900 won 😳 Plenty of places charge well over 10,000 won for a single bowl, so this price these days is really surprising 🤩 A set menu for 9,900 won too — the value for money seems really solid!
Bar seats and the self-serve station for solo diners

The inside is a compact space, with a bar table and regular square tables lined up in a row ☺️ Depending on where you sit you can settle in comfortably, so it felt like a low-pressure spot for solo dining!

The basic side dishes are chives and diced radish kimchi! If you run out, there's a separate self-serve bar where you can easily grab more, which was nice 😊
What does the Sanbandeul pork gukbap taste like?
I ordered the set menu! (gukbap + karaage)

I tried the signature Sanbandeul gukbap! With a refreshing yet deep seafood broth, rich umami, and the nuttiness of roasted sesame added in, it was a gukbap that got more appealing with every bite 🍚

This gukbap is made with a rich bone broth carefully simmered for a full 40 hours 🍚 They say the deep, rich broth flavor is this place's signature draw 〰️👍🏻
⭐️I really recommend the signature Sanbandeul gukbap! The moment I ate it, I felt warmth spreading all the way through me, and it filled me up in a satisfying way! It's the kind of gukbap you'd crave on a day when you want a spicy, refreshing hangover cure!

They say every gukbap uses pork shoulder and front leg meat cooked jambon-style using a traditional French method! Maybe thanks to the long aging and low-temperature cooking, the meat felt especially tender 〰️🥳 It was a different texture from typical pork gukbap, which made it even more impressive!
The handmade karaage fried chicken in the 11,500-won set

When it first arrived, I was surprised by how generous the portion was! The karaage was crispy outside and juicy inside — the texture was absolutely insane 🥹

The moment I bit into it, the crunchy sound was practically ASMR!! haha The portion and the taste were both satisfying, so I really enjoyed eating it.

It was delicious dipped in sauce and just as delicious plain — the karaage I want to eat again 🥹👍🏻🍗 With this kind of spread, the value for money was really satisfying too! If you like karaage, I highly recommend the chicken set 😉🤍 Next time I'll have to try the gukbap + suyuk set too :)
Review freebies, draft beer and other conveniences

They say if you leave a Naver receipt review you get king dumplings, and a Google review gets you fried shrimp! On top of that, they gave me sikhye (sweet rice drink) as a service too, so it felt like a real bargain 👏🏻👏🏻 With service like this, there's no reason not to leave a receipt review, right~?

Draft beer was also on the menu, but I was on a no-drinking day today so I had to skip it, sadly 😂 Gukbap with a beer sounds perfect for solo drinking! I'll definitely have to try it next time…🍺

A trustworthy open kitchen and even a space to stash your bags — all set!!
What makes Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap different
- 1. Tender jambon-style meat made with French cooking method — pork shoulder and front leg meat are aged for a long time and cooked at low temperatures, which they say reduces the gamey smell and brings out a tender texture!
- 2. Deep broth simmered over 40 hours — made with domestic pork bones, Gijang anchovies, and a special seafood sauce for rich umami, they say.
- 3. Fresh ingredients hand-picked daily — every morning they personally select fresh vegetables at Eomgung Agricultural Market, and add care with soft-boiled eggs marinated in a special tsuyu sauce!
Is Sanbandeul worth it for gukbap in Seomyeon and Jeonpo?
Overall, Sanbandeul Pork Gukbap had a charm somewhat different from typical pork gukbap 🥹 The meat was really tender and the broth was deep and rich, making it a satisfying, filling meal! The karaage portion was generous too, so I left really full ☺️👍🏻
The price wasn't a burden either, and with the review event and various services, I got to enjoy it even more fully 🥰
It's a comfortable spot to eat alone, but also easy to visit with friends or a partner, so if you're looking for a good gukbap spot in Seomyeon or Jeonpo, I'd recommend it :) Next time I'll definitely try the gukbap + suyuk set! Revisit intention: 2000%
