Order refills crab by crab at a Goyang soy crab restaurant: Deodeo

With crab season in full swing, I went to get some delicious soy crab at Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil in Ilsan. True to its name, the crab here is all-you-can-eat! Let's get right into the review~

When you arrive, you're greeted by a sign that's clearly weathered by time haha. There were quite a few parking spots — a few right in front and more in what looked like an open lot nearby.

💡Here's a tip! While one person parks, have the other run in and put your name on the waiting list. The line moves slower than you'd expect... T_T Then again, a long wait probably just means it's a good spot, right?

How long is the wait? 10 groups ahead, about an hour

There were about 10 groups ahead of me, and after roughly an hour of waiting, I finally got in!! It seemed like they call groups in based on matching party sizes when a big table opens up.

Once inside, everyone around me was tearing into their crab like it was a battle 🤩 Before long, I was doing the exact same thing haha.

Menu prices and nationwide delivery orders

Quick look at the menu. It seemed like most people order the soy crab + marinated crab + crab stew set. Being able to try several crab dishes, all-you-can-eat, at such a good price is just too tempting. So I placed my order right away.

What comes on the table, and how spicy is the marinated crab?

Not long after ordering, the full spread arrived! It included soy crab, marinated crab, crab stew, steamed egg, seaweed, a basic bowl of rice per person, and ramyeon noodles on the house. Very generous!

For a spice-wimp like me, the marinated crab was a bit much T_T If I had to compare, it was a touch spicier than Shin Ramyun — sweet and spicy at the same time? So I just ate the amount that came standard and then focused all my energy on the soy crab from there haha.

How the soy crab tastes and how much meat is in each crab

First up, the soy crab! Not overly salty, with a slightly sweet, deeply savory flavor. The soy sauce seasoning was well soaked into every part.

Can you see how plump the meat is? This was the level of meat yield in the crab, and I think that's excellent for the price! When you bite in, the meat practically bursts out — just gorgeous.

Mixing rice into the crab shell and scooping it up! Since this wasn't a female crab, there was no roe, but it wasn't fishy at all and tasted amazing.

It was great having the crab stew served alongside to reset your palate between bites of soy sauce flavor. Spicy and refreshing, the kind that really clears you out! Adding the ramyeon noodles that came with it filled me right up.

How do the crab refills work at Deodeo?

To refill the crab at Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil, you press the call bell and staff bring over a container and fill it right there on the spot haha. They ask how many you'd like and give you exactly that many, which I loved. Just keep in mind you need to finish your bowl completely before you can refill!

Round two, refilled! The refill crab was just as fresh as the first round, no difference at all. And you never feel awkward asking for more!! I really liked that.

Was the one-hour wait worth it?

That's my visit to Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil in Ilsan. At first, the hour-long wait felt really long, but once I started eating I thought, glad I waited. If you're around and love crab or soy crab, I'd definitely recommend visiting Deodeo Ganjanggejang Muhalliripil and eating your fill~~!
