Yongsan hair salon long-hair design perm for root & side volume: JUNO

My volume had been falling flat lately and my curls kept losing their shape, so I was blow-drying every single morning just to fake some body. The mall also has Fashion Park, an E-Mart, and a CGV all in one place, so it was nice to wander the mall a bit while I was there for my hair. I arrived right at my appointment time and was seated immediately with no wait, which made the whole visit feel low-pressure.

Sitting there watching how quickly waiting customers were seated and how the staff handled everything, I could feel that particular sense of stability you get from a place that's been running a long time. When I booked, I noticed Lee Yu had over 4,000 reviews stacked up. That kind of track record, built up over many customers and much time, gave me a lot of confidence.

I showed a Diana perm photo, and got a different suggestion back

During the consultation, I showed Lee Yu the Diana perm photo I'd seen on Instagram. But after looking at my hair condition and face shape, she said, "rather than that style exactly, a slight adjustment would suit you much better," and re-proposed a design tailored to me. Using my reference photo as a starting point but reworking it to fit my face shape — that consultation approach really stuck with me.

The signature perm + root perm combination

The perm pricing worked on a system where you get an individual quote after consultation, depending on hair length and condition. I was consulted into a combination of a signature perm and a root perm. (A root perm only wraps small rods near the roots close to the scalp, to lift volume at the crown — it's a partial treatment!)

Wave handling that changed by section

The most impressive part of the process was the handling. Around the section that tucks behind the ear, she wound one big, thick wave, and just below that, she wound the rods again for another round of fuller waves. It wasn't just winding the whole head the same way — I could clearly feel that she was adjusting volume and wave size differently section by section.

What felt like Lee Yu's own signature detail was building side volume in during the perm process itself. That's a part I'm clumsy with — I've tried using a curling iron a few times and given up. But she went ahead and set that section with volume right at the perm stage, so my side hair stays naturally full every morning without me needing to style it separately :)

When the long process was finally done and I looked in the mirror, the hair that had been sitting flat at my crown and temples was clearly lifted, and I loved it. The wave at the section tucked behind the ear flowed thick and natural, and the section below it was gathered fuller once more, giving overall volume without any choppy layered look — exactly what I wanted. The most satisfying part was that even when I ran my hand through it carelessly, the shape didn't fall apart ♡♡
