I went to JUNO HAIR Yongsan I'Park Mall Branch for a bit of a refresh.

Walking into the salon, the whole space felt clean and well-organized. The space wasn't cramped and had a calm atmosphere, so I could relax comfortably throughout the service.

What to do with hair that's an awkward length?

My hair concern this time was simple: "Keep the length, but give me a layered cut with a lighter feel!" I wanted to keep my current length while trimming down the parts that looked heavy and awkward.

I told deputy director Lee Yu how I usually style my hair and the look I wanted, and we started with a consultation. She's the type who shapes long and medium-length layered styles based on face shape, hair texture, and everyday styling, which made it easier for me to talk through my concerns. I wanted a look that would change naturally enough that people would just think, "oh, you got your hair done," rather than a drastic transformation.

Tone-up dye, then the cut

First up was the tone-up dye. Based on what I wanted and Lee Yu's advice, we decided to go with 'ash brown' for the change!

Up until now, I'd always stuck with a calm reddish warm-tone brown, thinking it suited me best. But the moment she saw me, Lee Yu said I was actually a cool-tone type and would look great in matte ash brown. Her consultation was kind and thorough, so I felt really satisfied. After talking through the color and style direction in more detail, we went straight into the service.

Does tone-up dye also cover gray hair?

I've been worried about gray hairs lately too, so I tackled that at the same time. Yes, tone-up dye does cover grays too! Since coloring inevitably causes some damage, we finished up with a hair damage care mist treatment.

Right after the coloring, the cut began. Trimming the awkwardly long parts and cleaning up the lines made my hair feel a lot lighter, even with just a light cut.

What I especially liked is that she wasn't just trimming length — she was looking at the overall balance, which really made a difference in how clean it looked.

From the start of the coloring, she kept checking my hair condition and worked carefully through the whole process. After the final shampoo and blow-dry, it came out exactly the vibe I wanted.
