Korean restaurant for three at Seoul Express Bus Terminal: Bapjangin
In short
Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch is a kimchi jjaglie (thick kimchi stew) and Korean set-meal restaurant on basement level 1 of Seoul Express Bus Terminal, on the Gyeongbu line side right in front of Shinsegae Factory in Seocho, Seoul. Three people ordered the two-person set and added squid stir-fry at 18,000 won, steamed egg and instant noodles, so the table also held jeyuk bokkeum (spicy stir-fried pork) and bulgogi bokkeum at 14,000 won, all full of smoky char. Bapjangin is an easy place to fill up fast before a bus or after shopping at the terminal.

I go to the Express Bus Terminal a lot for shopping, and also when I'm taking a bus during holidays — there's a kimchi jjigae jjaglie place right there. There are surprisingly a lot of good restaurants underground at the terminal hahaha.

Where is Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch on basement level 1?
Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch is on the basement 1st floor of Seoul Express Bus Terminal, in the direction of the Gyeongbu line. It's right in front of Shinsegae Factory~ B-J-I, Bapjangin haha.

Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch
Lots of people, no gender skew, and solo dining is totally fine at this terminal favorite. The inside is clean and the service is super fast, so it's ideal for eating before catching a bus.

The water bottle was way too cute, and the fact it came out right after we sat down was such a nice touch haha.

Side dishes, gim flakes and a bowl of black-rice rice at Bapjangin
Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch gives you three side dishes, so the basic service is already good. The jjaglie eats through a lot of rice on its own, but honestly the basic side dishes and gim flakes alone could finish a whole bowl.

The rice comes in a bowl, easy to mix, and the portion was really generous. I love that it's not plain white rice but rice mixed with black rice, feels healthier haha.

Squid stir-fry, 18,000 won: sweet with smoky char
We added this to the two-person set. Sizzling squid stir-fry, 18,000 won. Loved that there were plenty of vegetables and a generous amount of squid too.

I was really craving squid stir-fry today~ It wasn't so much spicy as it was sweet with a lot of smoky char. Bapjangin's style of food has a pretty strong seasoning haha.

What comes in Bapjangin's two-person set, and the add-ons
Even the jeyuk bokkeum included in the set came out with plenty of smoky char. I wasn't super hungry today, but the set menu has so many components, and there's a huge variety of add-ons you can throw into the jjaglie too — dumpling soup dough, Spam, tofu, more meat. Add it all up and you get a very full table.

Just looking at it you can tell how smoky this bulgogi bokkeum is. 14,000 won, and we got great value eating it as part of the set. It had that feel of the bulgogi you get at a trucker's diner-style baekban meal.

They gave us lettuce for wraps, which was nice. If you have the time, I'd definitely recommend wrapping it up too haha.

Our hearty dinner spread~ We were starving after shopping at the terminal haha. As the food kept coming out, I did start thinking we might have ordered too much haha.

Kimchi jjaglie: how big does it get with instant noodles added?
Finally, the main dish — Bapjangin's kimchi jjaglie. It came out in a stone pot packed to bursting with ingredients. I wondered if we'd added that many toppings ourselves, but we only added instant noodle sarry, and it already comes with dumpling soup dough mixed in.

We also added the steamed egg from the set. So soft and delicious. Steamed egg really is a dish nobody dislikes, so good haha.

The kimchi jjaglie visuals are insane, right? With the noodle sarry added, the portion size shot up even more~ There were three of us, but between the jjaglie, the squid stir-fry, and the bulgogi bokkeum, it was almost too much to finish.

The Spam and tofu combo is the best~ Spam was so good, as always. If you're a Spam lover, you already know how well Spam pairs with jjaglie, right? That's exactly the flavor here haha.

The rich, deep flavor coming from the pork was great too — no gamey taste at all. Since there are so many customers, I think the freshness of the ingredients stays good thanks to the fast table turnover. Jjaglie really does have so much to eat~ rich, layered, and deep in flavor, my pick for tonight's dinner haha.

Unlimited gim flakes right on the table
This good-quality gim flake sits right there on the table, unlimited. So it worked its magic and I ended up finishing half a bowl of rice before the jjaglie even arrived haha. We ate well at a terminal favorite, went shopping, and had a really happy time.
If you're heading underground at the Express Bus Terminal for shopping, finish off a bowl of jjaglie at Bapjangin first and go shop with energy haha.
