When you're looking for a place to eat near Express Bus Terminal Station, it turns out there aren't actually that many good-value restaurants around. So I have a go-to spot I keep coming back to whenever I'm at the terminal — Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch.

It's the place I visit whenever I'm shopping or meeting someone near Express Bus Terminal Station and just want a proper bowl of warm rice with a solid stew, rather than something fancy. This time too, I stopped by Bapjangin again with my sibling after a while.

Where is Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch? Steps from Exit 1

Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch is located in the basement level of Seoul Express Bus Terminal. The address is 20, B1F, Seoul Express Bus Terminal, 194 Sinbanpo-ro, Seocho-gu, Seoul.

It's really close to the station — about 11m from Exit 1 of Express Bus Terminal Station. Just head toward the basement food court, and look for the Bapjangin sign across from Shinsegae Factory.

It's a great spot for a meal before or after using the express bus terminal, and also convenient if you want a hearty meal after shopping at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam. That's why it's the place that comes to mind whenever I'm looking for somewhere to eat near the terminal.

Why Bapjangin is worth a repeat visit at the terminal

The main reason I visit Bapjangin like a regular is that you can get a filling meal without breaking the bank. The terminal has tons of restaurants, but when you actually look for a Korean restaurant you could go to casually, like every day, there aren't that many options.

Bapjangin has a good variety of menu items — jjaglie, kimchi stew, bulgogi stir-fry, squid stir-fry, potato stew, brisket soft tofu stew, and more — so it's easy to pick whatever you're craving that day. If you're the type who likes mixing stew into warm rice, I think you'll be pretty satisfied.

This meal: brisket sundubu-jjigae and jjageuli for two

This time I came with my sibling and we each ordered something different. What I had was the savory brisket soft tofu stew (sundubu-jjigae) + rice for ₩15,000.

With the brisket in it, the broth had a rich, savory flavor that went great with warm rice — you really can't have stew without rice. My sibling ordered the bubbling jjaglie + rice for ₩12,000.

Mixing jjaglie into rice

Jjaglie is one of Bapjangin's signature dishes — it's a thick stew with just enough broth, perfect for mixing into rice. It's salty with plenty of savory depth, truly living up to its reputation as a rice-thief dish.

On top of that, we added the soft steamed egg for ₩3,000. Pairing steamed egg with well-seasoned dishes like stew or jjaglie worked really well together, and the portion was just right for two people to share.

Oh, the gim flakes (seaweed flakes) at Bapjangin are seriously delicious, so make sure to mix them into your rice with the seaweed!

A lunch stop after shopping at Shinsegae Gangnam

Since Express Bus Terminal Station is close to Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, a lot of people look for somewhere to eat after shopping. So rather than limiting your search to restaurants inside the department store, I'd recommend widening your search to the basement food court at Express Bus Terminal Station too.

Bapjangin's location is super convenient, and you can eat Korean food at a relatively reasonable price, making it a solid choice for a meal before or after shopping.
