Uijeongbu dakgangjeong shop with a robot fryer: Dalgom's

In short

Dalgom's is a dakgangjeong (Korean sweet crispy fried chicken) shop inside Uijeongbu Jeil Market in Gyeonggi, a one-minute walk from the market's chicken street. Dalgom's pre-fries its chicken with a robot fryer four to five times a day, then re-fries each order on the spot in about 5 minutes, and three flavors — sweet, garlic soy and bburinkle — went home as takeout. The chicken was still crisp two hours after packing, and the spotless, oil-smell-free kitchen at Dalgom's was the biggest surprise.

Did you know there's a great dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken) spot just 100m from Uijeongbu Jeil Market's chicken street? It's Dalgom's — the highest-rated place on the public delivery app, somewhere I'd always meant to try. I finally made it there today, so here's my review.

Hours: daily 10:00–21:00 / Parking: partial (free 1-hour ticket with Jeil Market parking)

Where is Dalgom's in Uijeongbu, and what are the hours and parking?

Dalgom's, a great Uijeongbu dakgangjeong spot, sits inside Uijeongbu Jeil Market, one minute's walk from the chicken street. Park at the Jeil Market lot and you get a free 1-hour parking ticket. Hours are listed as 10:00–21:00, but they close once the ingredients run out — usually around 19:00–20:00 — so it's worth calling ahead before you visit!

Dalgom's offers dine-in, takeout, and delivery. The menu, prices, and sizes are posted right outside the shop, which I loved — even introverts like me can browse comfortably without having to go in and ask.

No oil smell inside: why Dalgom's cleanliness stands out first

What genuinely surprised me was how spotless the shop was. I always assumed fried chicken places reek of oil and have grease stains everywhere, right? Not Dalgom's. There was hardly any frying smell, and it was so clean it looked like it had opened that very day — my trust in the food shot straight up!

How to order at Dalgom's and how long the chicken takes

Here's Dalgom's menu board. You pick your size first, then your flavor.

Chicken being re-fried the moment it's ordered

The chicken is pre-fried in advance, then re-fried once you order, which takes about 5 minutes. If you call about 10 minutes before you arrive, they'll have it timed and ready — good to know!

Chicken pre-fried in batches four to five times a day

A robot fryer and pre-frying four to five times a day

Instead of pre-frying the whole day's chicken in one go, Dalgom's does it in four or five separate batches throughout the day. It would be easier to fry a big batch all at once at opening, but the owner sticks to this principle because chicken can dry out if it sits pre-fried too long.

Robot fryer frying the chicken

Off to one side, I noticed a robot actually doing the frying! It was fascinating to watch, and genuinely felt hygienic.

The chicken that came out fresh from the fryer was perfectly crisp. Maybe because the oil was so clean, both the chicken and the rice cakes came out clean-tasting too.

The crispy chicken is quickly tossed in sauce. Every tool they use is stainless steel or silicone, and both the owner and his wife wear masks and hats — no wonder the food couldn't help but be clean!

Sweet, garlic soy and bburinkle: how the three flavors tasted

I ordered the sweet, garlic soy, and bburinkle flavors.

Packed chicken in sweet, garlic soy, and bburinkle flavors

It had been about two hours since I packed it up to bring home, and the chicken was still just as crispy...

Sweet flavor chicken, not too sweet

I ordered the sweet flavor because I heard kids love it — it wasn't too sweet, so it wasn't overwhelming, and my kids really did devour it.

Garlic soy chicken with a sweet-and-salty combo

The garlic soy flavor had that sweet-and-salty charm, plus the garlic flavor took it up a notch — totally my style!

Bburinkle chicken generously coated in seasoning

The bburinkle flavor is Dalgom's best-selling menu item, and it's a total burst of umami... The bburinkle seasoning is generously dusted on, so I made sure to coat every piece evenly for maximum flavor.

A chewy piece of rice cake mixed into the chicken

The rice cakes were chewy and delicious, and the chicken had a fresh taste with no gamey smell at all — five stars across the board! If you're looking for a great dakgangjeong spot in Uijeongbu or at Uijeongbu Jeil Market, why not check out Dalgom's at Jeil Market?
