Wing ring making at Munak, a Yeonsinnae ring workshop in Seoul
In short
Munak is a ring-making workshop on the second floor of a shopping building in Eunpyeong, Seoul, near Yeonsinnae Station. At Munak the wing ring was chosen from Pinterest and built by melting wax and layering it on, then refined a second time by the owner, finished with silver plating and delivered 3 days later. The inside of the ring carries both the engraving picked on the survey and a clear 'Munak' stamp.

This is Helio~ I'd wanted to try a ring-making workshop for a while, so I found one with a nice atmosphere nearby and went in!

Where is Munak, and what is the workshop like near Yeonsinnae Station?
Munak is a ring-making workshop on the 2nd floor of a commercial building at 23 Tongil-ro 83-gil, Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul. I thought it'd be hard to find, but the orange sign was visible from far away so it was easy ❤️🔥

The workshop was so clean and pretty. I felt like working in this space would help me focus and make an even better ring!!

First step at Munak: choosing ring size and design on a survey
At Munak, you first sit at the orange table and fill out a survey about what size ring you want and what kind of design image you're going for~ The more specific you are, the closer the finished ring gets to what you actually want, so it's good to think about it before you go!

There are tons of different rings on display~

I didn't have a specific design in mind, so I referenced the ring designs at the workshop 😄 It was great having so many different ring shapes there to spark ideas ^^
I wanted something cute and clean, so I picked a wing ring from Pinterest ❤️🔥❤️🔥 Isn't it so cute?

How the wing ring is made: melting wax on instead of carving it
To start making the actual ring, I sat at my own desk. Before making it, the owner explains the method and gives a demonstration first, then you follow along. Seeing the demo first made it click right away and made me even more excited to try it 😄

First you get a block of wax and carve it into your desired ring shape yourself! You carve the wax with metal nippers, and since this creates a lot of dust, I wore protective glasses. The workshop has protective gear on hand, so you can feel safe going.
There was also the option to carve the design directly into the wax piece by piece, but I chose the easier method haha. I melted the wax myself and layered it onto the wax ring base!! Getting so focused on making the ring in the process really made my stress disappear and cleared my mind of random thoughts. If you want to stop thinking about other stuff, or you're feeling down, I'd really recommend trying out a unique ring workshop like this 🥲💞💞

I couldn't take many photos while melting the wax, but I gave it my all making the ring. ㅜㅡ
The owner shapes the wings, you add the details
Melting wax while designing was really hard for me, so I was about to switch to the carving method, but the owner offered to design the whole piece herself, so she did all of the wing shape 🥹🥹 It was just the owner and me in the shop that day, so we ended up chatting about all sorts of things and time flew by ❤️🔥
She shaped it and then handed it back to me to work on the details, and that's how it got finished 💞 One of the great things about Munak is that first, you actually get to make the ring yourself!! ♡ And second, after you make the first version, the owner personally does a second pass to refine it into exactly the image you wanted 🥹💝
Silver-plated wing ring delivered in 3 days, with the inner engraving
The ring made at Munak gets finished with silver plating, and I waited about 3 days. I was so eager to get it that I kept refreshing for the jewelry delivery text ❤️🔥🥲
Oh my gosh ㅜㅜ I love it completely. The ring the owner refined felt a bit more polished than my first version.

When I made the ring, I'd decided on the inner engraving on the survey, and that came out really crisp and pretty too.

Besides the engraving I chose, there's also a 'Munak' engraving, so I'll never forget the name of this ring workshop ㅜㅜ

I think I'll definitely go back whenever I want to make another ring. Every morning on my way to work, looking at this ring gives me a little extra strength haha. I don't think I'll ever forget Munak. Owner, you're the best 🥰
I highly recommend this to couples or family members who want to make matching rings together — definitely worth a visit 😀😀
