Paper takeout bag from Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch

Ta-da! Today I'm starting off in Euljiro with cute little Hyeonseoni — famous as an old-school tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) spot I'd been dying to try. I went for takeout at the Euljiro branch, and when you pack it up, they give you the food in this adorable paper bag.

Where is Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch, and how far is it from Euljiro 1-ga Station?

Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch is on the 1st floor, 112 Namdaemun-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, tucked between walls right next to Mega Coffee. It's basically one signal-crossing away from Exit 3 of Euljiro 1-ga Station, so it's incredibly well located.

Hyeonseoni-ne is so close to Euljiro 1-ga Station! It's a genuinely old-school spot nestled between the walls. I liked that it wasn't right on a busy main road.

Bonus point right there ~

They sell tteokbokki and ramyeon, and instant tteokbokki is also available! I'm already drooling just thinking about it.

It's right there once you cross the signal from Euljiro Exit 3 — super station-accessible, so it's perfect for grabbing tteokbokki on your way in.

Entrance to Hyeonseoni-ne between the street stalls

Inside the walled alley: can you sit down and eat at Hyeonseoni-ne?

Walking in between the street stalls at Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch, you find an inner space with tables and chairs. It was bigger than I expected from the entrance, so it was also a good spot to sit and eat instant tteokbokki.

Slip in between the street stalls and there are tables and chairs waiting — it has that hidden-gem feel.

Inner space at Hyeonseoni-ne with large tables

The inner space was way bigger than expected — for an old-school Euljiro tteokbokki place, the tables were nice and big, and the interior felt very airy ~

Seating alley with a wall view instead of the main road

This wall view meant it wasn't on the main road, which I liked. With street-stall tteokbokki you always worry about dust from passing cars, but being tucked between walls actually worked out better.

Interior of Hyeonseoni-ne with multiple tables

Once you're inside there are plenty of tables, and it was bigger than I imagined from the entrance ~~ Seems like a good spot to sit and eat instant tteokbokki.

Ordering the 25,000-won Hyeonseoni-ne combo set for takeout

The best-selling menu items at Hyeonseoni-ne Cheonggye Instant Branch are said to be the instant tteokbokki (for 2) at 22,000 won and the Hyeonseoni-ne combo at 25,000 won. The kitchen sits toward the back.

Before traffic got bad I wanted to hurry home and eat, so I ordered the Hyeonseoni-ne combo set to take out 😊💗

Individually packed Hyeonseoni-ne combo set for takeout

The Hyeonseoni-ne combo set comes individually packed like this. The fried snacks are in a paper bag which is then placed in a disposable tray, so it was really easy to just open it up and eat right away!! It comes with spiral fish cake, sundae (Korean blood sausage), tteokbokki, and mini gimbap.

Ta-da, ready to unwrap and dig in.

Combo set with tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and mini gimbap

Fried snacks, fish cake and gimbap all cut for you, plus your choice of sundae and spice level

With the Hyeonseoni-ne combo set, the fried snacks, fish cake, and gimbap all come pre-cut, so once you bring it home you can just eat right away. The sundae comes mixed with organs by default, but if you can't handle that, they'll pack sundae only — they ask ahead of time.

Tteokbokki comes in mild, medium, and spicy — apparently medium is just slightly spicier than Shin Ramyun?! So I picked mild.

Pre-cut squid fritters and kimmari fried snacks

Cutting the fried snacks for you is such a thoughtful touch. Squid fritters, kimmari (seaweed noodle rolls), yaki-mandu (pan-fried dumplings), vegetable fritters, and even sweet potato fritters — such a generous spread. Loved being able to try a bit of everything 🥰💗

Hyeonseoni-ne's sundae: rich blood sausage with generous liver and lung

The sundae in the Hyeonseoni-ne combo set comes packed with liver, lungs, and organs mixed together. The organs were generous too, and it was so, so good.

Something about the sundae felt different? It looked like glass noodle sundae, so I just popped a bite in — and it was such a rich, blood-forward sundae that I thought it might be meat-stuffed sundae. So, so tasty 👍🏻

Mild tteokbokki, mini gimbap and fish cake broth at home

Luckily, even a spice-wimp like me found the tteokbokki not spicy at all. The savory, salty-sweet flavor kept me going back for more — this is genuinely a certified old-school Euljiro tteokbokki spot.

The mini gimbap came pre-cut, so it was so easy to eat in one bite! It's the perfect pairing with the tteokbokki — dipping it in the sauce is out of this world. Packed with crab stick, ham, egg, pickled radish, and spinach, this mini gimbap is surprisingly hearty ~

The Hyeonseoni-ne combo set includes fish cake, so I got to enjoy the broth too — very satisfying.

Is Hyeonseoni-ne worth it for a family dinner after work?

With the Hyeonseoni-ne combo I put together a quick, easy family meal after work ~ It's a genuine must-eat, so I highly recommend grabbing takeout on your way home from work. Famous restaurants really are famous for a reason.
