From the generous banchan-style starters to seriously good aged sashimi, this is a Jeonpo hotspot where freshness fills every bite 🐟
I finally took the plunge on a proper Busan trip this time! Eating well and relaxing was the whole point, and the thing I was most excited for was wandering Jeonpo-dong at night. I'd been planning this trip for ages, so just walking the alleys near Jeonpo Station had me buzzing with excitement.
Busan means fresh raw fish, right? After enjoying a bunch of stuff around Seomyeon, I heard about Rigo Susan, a sashimi place that serves up a generous full spread — so I checked it out! 🐟

Walking route: 265m from Jeonpo Station Exit 8
Rigo Susan Jeonpo Station Main Branch is 265m from Jeonpo Station Exit 8, about a 3-4 minute walk away. From outside, the blue sign with a fish illustration made it easy to spot Rigo Susan even from a distance.

Walking in, there were several tables set up and other diners already there, so I could feel the lively evening energy right away. It had a casual vibe, easy to walk into without any pressure. When hunting for Jeonpo restaurants I often just go off food photos, but here the atmosphere from outside already screamed 'came here for sashimi' 😊
What comes with the base spread, from corn cheese to cold udon
Rigo Susan's base spread came out all together: corn cheese, tteokbokki, tofu kimchi, something that looked like okonomiyaki, plus fried food, salad, and udon. Not long after sitting down, the dishes started arriving one by one, and with so much variety I couldn't help but stare — the table filled up fast since everything came at once.

There was even a roll-shaped dish, plus laver, perilla leaves, garlic and chili peppers to wrap the sashimi in different ways. The corn cheese was soft and sweet, great for picking at between bites, and since the udon was served cold, the clean chilled broth felt like it reset my palate each time 🍜
Salmon, flatfish and mullet platter: thick cuts with a chewy bite
Rigo Susan's mixed platter arrived with orange salmon sitting side by side with white-flesh flatfish and mullet sashimi. Gorgeous color combo, and with radish sprouts, lemon and garlic on top, it photographed pretty appetizingly 📸

The slices weren't cut too thin — picking up one piece, it felt nicely thick. I tried it plain first, and the flesh wasn't mushy at all, it had a firm, chewy bounce 👌 The salmon led with a soft, nutty flavor, while the white-flesh sashimi was clean and light, with a subtle savoriness building the more I chewed.
Mixing your own bites at Rigo Susan 😛
The sashimi tasted clean with just a touch of wasabi in soy sauce, and wrapping it with perilla leaf, laver, radish sprouts and garlic all together made the aroma even richer. Pairing it with the white kimchi-looking side added a tangy note to the sashimi's cleanness, making for yet another combo. Switching up the combination bite by bite made the same fish taste a little different each time, and I kept reaching for more 😋
Fried food, tteokbokki and udon broth between bites of sashimi
Usually at sashimi places you sometimes run out of things to pair with the fish once it arrives, but Rigo Susan had so much already set on the table from the start. Between bites of sashimi I'd grab a piece of fried food, try some tteokbokki, sip the udon broth — there wasn't a dull moment through the whole meal.
Best part was not sticking to one dish the whole time — being able to mix in different menu items along the way meant I got to enjoy a range of flavors right to the end.
Craving sashimi in Jeonpo-dong at night?
Having tried it myself this time, I came away thinking Rigo Susan is less a spot for just one plate of sashimi and more a place with the fun of enjoying a bunch of different food together. It happened to be a day I really wanted aged sashimi, so tasting the texture and all the sides one by one was pretty fun 🐟
Switching between the white-flesh sashimi and the soft salmon gave me the fun of picking favorites, and with such a varied spread, it was also fun for photos 📸 If you're hunting Jeonpo restaurants and want somewhere to eat sashimi as a solid main, keep Rigo Susan in mind.
