I'd had a really stressful day, so I needed a genuinely delicious meal.
A thick-cut pork meal near Sookdae Station
🍖 I went looking for a proper Korean BBQ spot 👀 and found a place where you can enjoy plenty of domestic pork across different cuts.
It's so much easier when they grill it for you
🔥 Thick cuts of meat are surprisingly tricky to time right when you're grilling them yourself, but a kind staff member grilled everything from start to finish, so I could just relax and eat. Thanks to that, I got to focus on enjoying the food instead of stressing over the grill :)

It's a Sookdae-area Korean BBQ spot tucked in an alley between buildings. A Namyeong-dong favorite that even appeared on SBS's Live Today!

What's the atmosphere like?
On a weekday evening, I was the last customer, so I took some photos of the place right before heading out. The staff were friendly, and the restaurant was run in a clean, organized way. Seems like a great spot for friends grabbing meat or coworkers having a work dinner 😄

This is how the raw meat and basic table setting looked.

The basic side dishes
Lettuce wraps, ssamjang (dipping sauce), garlic, scallion salad, and bean sprouts all came as standard, along with side dishes to cut through the richness of the meat. Overall the flavors were clean rather than heavy, letting the meat's taste shine, which paired well with it.

600g pork assortment set — how much is that really?
600g doesn't mean much just as a number, but it actually covered almost the entire grill! The thickness alone set it apart.
Once we were ready to eat, the staff came over to grill the meat for us.
The doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) that came with the set was spicy yet clean-tasting, with a bit of richness. Made me want rice right away.

Watching the meat turn golden brown was pretty mouthwatering. Thanks to the staff's help, I got to talk their ear off about my day while staying fully in the conversation.
Watching the meat cook, we figured we should order rice too — so we added a bowl.

How did the thick-cut pork taste?
Thick but still juicy and savory — exactly my kind of meat, since I like eating it cut thick. Even while I was mid-rant about my bad mood, I kept pausing to go 'wait, this is really good?' and thinking, 'if it tastes this good even while I'm in a foul mood, the meat quality must be genuinely great' — and just kept eating.

Final thoughts
👨🍳 A meal with no grilling stress, no price stress 🍻 From rice to drinks, all covered
Two meat-loving people visited and left having eaten a truly generous meal. Between the flavor and the convenience of having someone grill it for you, this is a place worth remembering whenever you want an easy, satisfying meal near Sookdae Station.
