Squid jeotgal and roasted gim wraps at Sookdae BBQ: Muttuk Sookdae
In short
Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant near Sookdae Ipgu Station in Yongsan, Seoul, where staff grill every cut from start to finish. The pork assortment set 600g (₩69,800) came with thick pork neck, cartilage-in pork belly, and whole skirt meat, plus a memorable combo of squid jeotgal (fermented squid) and grill-roasted gim (seaweed) wraps and a garlic-sauce-and-minari pairing. Today I've got an honest review from Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch, a Korean BBQ spot near Sookdae Ipgu Station where you can enjoy thick, juicy meat with total ease ✨

They grill everything for you, and the meat was so good I really wanted to share it with you all! Let's get started.
First impressions of Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch, a Sookdae BBQ spot

Inside the restaurant

The moment I walked in, the wide, clean space caught my eye — the tables were spaced generously, not cramped at all,

and there was solid group seating too, which would work great for gatherings or company dinners.
Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch menu and prices

Looking at the menu, there were the usual basic pork cuts like pork neck, pork belly, and whole skirt meat, but also, interestingly, a matcha pork ribs item. It seemed to be Muttuk's own signature dish seasoned with matcha marinade — I was curious, but
I wanted to try several cuts at once, so I went with the signature set menu!

This comes with thick pork neck + cartilage pork belly + whole skirt meat + Muttuk's special doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).

Even before the meat arrived, the care put into the basic side dishes and sauces was obvious — ssamjang, salt, and wasabi, of course, but also, unusually, squid jeotgal. Eating it with the meat, that savory depth just clung to my mouth — a real delicacy!

On top of that, pickled onion, shredded green onion salad, and wild garlic leaves rounded out a satisfying spread.

Any side dish running low could be easily refilled at the self-serve bar, which made it even better.

Finally, out came the incredibly thick pork neck, pork belly, and whole skirt meat!
They also brought out vegetables like onion, mushroom, and potato to grill alongside the meat, and the vegetables, browned in the meat's fat, tasted amazing too.
Since the cuts were so thick, once everything was grilled the portion turned out to be quite generous.
Staff grill the meat from start to finish
The best thing about Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is that the staff kindly grill the meat for you from beginning to end. All you have to do is sit back, chat, and wait — genuinely so relaxing.

The first thing I tried was the whole skirt meat — it had a chewy bite and bursts of nutty juiciness, and I really enjoyed it.

The thick pork neck and pork belly were also grilled perfectly — browned outside, moist inside —

so I got to enjoy tender, juicy meat all the way through.

Two recommended combos at Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch
With so many good side dishes and sauces, mixing and matching was half the fun. Let me recommend two combos that were especially delicious.

1. Roasted gim + meat + squid jeotgal — Lightly toast the provided gim (seaweed) on the grill, then wrap it around the meat and squid jeotgal for one bite. The salty flavor of the jeotgal and the nuttiness of the gim combine for an explosion of savory flavor.
2. Special garlic sauce + minari (water dropwort) — Wrap the meat with the sweet, nutty special garlic sauce and fragrant minari, and

the meat's flavor deepens even further while staying clean and light.
Overall review and closing thoughts
✅ What I liked
- ✔️The convenience of having the meat grilled for you — you can focus on conversation and enjoy perfectly browned meat straight off the grill
- ✔️Great combo side dishes — roasted gim with squid jeotgal, special garlic sauce with minari, and other extras that double the enjoyment of the meat
- ✔️Thick, high-quality Korean pork — the meat itself was excellent, with juices bursting out on every bite
Who I'd recommend this to
- ✔️Anyone looking for a Sookdae Ipgu restaurant with attentively grilled meat
- ✔️Anyone looking for a Yongsan pork belly restaurant with thick, juicy meat and unique flavor combos

On the way out after paying, I was won over one last time by the thoughtfulness of having not just deodorizer but mouthwash ready by the register too. The meat was so good that I definitely want to come back next time I'm near Sookdae Ipgu. If you're looking for a Yongsan pork belly restaurant that grills for you, I highly recommend Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch!❤️
