Shabu-shabu with one induction stove per seat in Hapjeong: Nahonsha

In short

Nahonsha is a solo shabu-shabu restaurant on Dokmak-ro near Hapjeong Station in Mapo, Seoul, where every seat has its own induction stove and its own kiosk. Two diners stopped in for dinner before a café study session, ordered the tomato broth and the clear broth, cooked vegetables and meat in them, then finished with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) and a self-serve porridge stir-fry. Nahonsha's tomato broth had the tangy, savoury depth of cooked tomatoes, while the clear broth stayed clean and light — an easy, satisfying meal for one.

Main photo of Nahonsha, a solo shabu-shabu restaurant near Hapjeong Station

Before a quick meal ahead of a café work session, I found a shabu-shabu spot near Hapjeong Station that's so green and pretty, I had to share-! If you're looking for a calm, quiet restaurant that feels like a bit of nature in busy Hapjeong, save this one 🌿

Why Nahonsha's tomato broth shabu-shabu stands out

Sign listing Nahonsha's broths: clear, spicy, and tomato

I've usually seen clear or spicy broth at shabu-shabu places, but this is the first time I've seen tomato broth 🫢 They say it tastes like Haidilao's tomato broth, so now I'm super curious!!

Inside Nahonsha in Hapjeong: solo seats, induction stoves and kiosks

You can see trees clearly outside the restaurant, so it's really green and pretty 🌿

Since it's a spot known for solo shabu-shabu, everything is neatly set up. With one induction stove and one kiosk per person, you can order and eat comfortably right from your seat.

Self-serve sweet chili, peanut, and soy ponzu sauces with barley tea

At each seat you can help yourself to sauces and barley tea, and the water isn't just plain water but barley tea — such a thoughtful touch! There are three sauces — sweet chili, peanut, and soy ponzu — so you can pick whatever suits your taste.

The tomato broth and clear broth arrived. Since it's solo shabu-shabu, everything feels clean and tidy.

The meat came out first — and you know how greasy shabu-shabu can get if the cut has too much fat? But Nahonsha's meat looked exactly right for shabu-shabu!

The vegetables were varied and fresh too 💚 We also added self-serve porridge, so it came with kimchi as well! The self-serve porridge is made with rice, diced vegetables, and egg.

Such a full spread-! I'd been eating a lot of guilty pleasure food lately, so this felt like a nice clean dinner ❥𓂃𓏧

Clear broth vs tomato broth: how did they taste?

Turn the heat to level 5, and once it starts to simmer a little, drop the vegetables in first!

The clear broth shabu-shabu was really appealing for its clean taste. It's a broth where you can properly taste the fresh vegetables and the light, savory meat.

The tomato broth, which you can only find at Nahonsha, had a pleasant tanginess. If you like cooked tomatoes, this addictive umami flavor will hit the spot (P)

Once it's bubbling nicely, swish the meat in piece by piece. Because the broth is so tasty, both the vegetables and the meat taste even better.

A lightly cooked piece of shabu-shabu meat

Cooked lightly, the meat turns tender in a way that's totally different from grilled meat. My preference is chili sauce, so I dipped it right in.

There's also a review event running — you can choose 3 fish balls or a soft drink. I went with the fish balls 🍢

If you need more broth or anything else, just order through the kiosk at your seat. The staff were so kind that even if something looked low, they'd take care of it without me having to press the add button — very easy to enjoy.

Finishing with kalguksu and a self-serve porridge stir-fry

Once you've finished the vegetables and meat, add more broth and drop in the noodles-!!!!

Cooked kalguksu noodles at Nahonsha

Personally, I really love this kalguksu (knife-cut noodles) 🖤 Nahonsha's seasoning tends to be on the mild side overall, so if you want it saltier, add more broth and let it reduce.

We added self-serve porridge too, stir-fried it in a slightly reduced broth, and it turned out mild yet savory and easy to eat haha

Kimchi served alongside the self-serve porridge

When you order, kimchi comes along too — pile some on top of the porridge and it becomes a truly complete meal.

Nahonsha's stamp coupon for each visit

At Nahonsha, you get a stamp for every meal — a special service on your 4th visit, and a free shabu-shabu for one on your 8th! Definitely bring your coupon every time you come 𖤐

Who should eat at Nahonsha?

  • Anyone dining solo in Hapjeong
  • Anyone looking for a neat, atmospheric date spot
  • Anyone who loves a healthy but delicious meal

Every time I'd eaten in Hapjeong before, it was crowded and hectic, so I'd end up rushing through meals — but at Nahonsha, you can relax while looking at the greenery outside 🌿 Next time I want to come back for the sukiyaki! Both the tomato broth and clear broth shabu-shabu were so satisfying that I'm now looking forward to trying the other menu items too. I recommend Nahonsha for delicious shabu-shabu made with healthy ingredients!
