Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch (베테랑종합어시장 인천구월점) is a Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant with excellent banchan-style side dishes, and it is just perfect for group gatherings too.

I had delicious assorted sashimi and altang (fish roe stew) at Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch (❁´◡`❁) It was a live-fish sashimi bar where you can eat well at a reasonable price!

A Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant near Arts Center Station
I went to the Sustainable Munhak Stadium concert the week before last, and it was my first time coming to Incheon's Guwol-dong Rodeo Street for a meal too! Veteran General Fish Market's Guwol Branch is within walking distance of Arts Center Station Exit 6 ✔️ If you drive, you can use the building's underground parking; if it is full, Guwol Agricultural Products Wholesale Market parking is also available. You can also come via Incheon Terminal Station Exit 2, so it is incredibly easy to reach.

This Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant opens for lunch and stays open into the early morning. Even on a weekday when the other shops were empty, this place was busy enough to feel lively. The seasonal raw shrimp and grilled king prawns are super delicious these days, and the lunch set is compact too.
A spacious interior with both outdoor-stall and sashimi-house vibes
The restaurant is much bigger than it looks from outside—on the scale of a seafood-market sashimi place! There is more space inside than I expected, making it ideal for an outdoor-stall atmosphere as well as a comfortable indoor sashimi-restaurant feel 🙌🏻

There is also a self-service bar on one side, so you can help yourself comfortably. But the real charm point at Veteran General Fish Market is the DIY pancake station, where you can make your own savory pancakes 👍🏻
Seasonal sashimi platter price and selection

How amazing that the seasonal sashimi platter for two costs just ₩38,000. You can try five kinds of fish: Korean red sea bream prepared masugawa-style, premium salmon prepared kombujime-style, plus Wando flounder, rockfish, and mullet. A veteran chef with 28 years of experience personally slices the sashimi with wonderful skill, so you can enjoy it at its absolute peak—that is the Veteran advantage! Anyway, this price, this quantity, this quality… unbelievable 🥹
Side dishes from fresh pollock roe to grilled saury
The thoughtful spread included fresh pollock roe dressed with sesame oil and miyeokguk (seaweed soup). The side dishes were seriously lovely, which is another draw, and they can be refilled too. The staff were kind, and the food, flavor, and atmosphere all hit just right!

The sashimi dressed in chojang (tangy chili-vinegar sauce), which also came as a side dish, was truly delicious too ✨ It was sliced like makhoe (mixed raw fish), and even as a side dish the portion was generous and abundant. It tasted clean and refreshing in the mouth—such an appealing Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant!

There was even grilled saury that looked like it should have been ordered separately 🥹 They said it was complimentary, but it was part of the standard spread at every table. One whole fish came out, nice and crisp, and it really got the appetite going—perfect with drinks.
An assorted sashimi platter with five kinds of fish

I cannot believe this spread is ₩38,000—five kinds of fish and absolutely top-tier visuals. Everything was great, but the red sea bream was presented with the scales visible, making this assorted sashimi platter especially impressive and appetizing!

An omakase-level menu presenting only the firmest cuts of the day•• The salmon was also aged just right and tasted like freshness at its peak. It was a great spread to eat with radish sprouts, onion, and a little soy sauce too.

The fish was prepared so well that it was delicious even eaten plain. Since it is a popular spot in Guwol-dong, the baseline for flavor is seriously high, and the prices are reasonable—so it calls for drinks, but I just wanted to keep eating sashimi!

We also added sushi rice seasoned with vinegar, and it was so fun making our own sushi 🥹 Put baek-kimchi (white kimchi) on top and eat it with flounder sashimi—there is no need for a fancy sushi restaurant! The wasabi was freshly grated too, giving it a lovely premium touch.

DIY pancakes from the self-service bar, plus altang
Lettuce was not included in the standard spread, but we could take as much as we wanted from the self-service bar. There were also ramen noodles, ssamjang (savory dipping paste), and vegetables available ✨ I loved everything about this restaurant, including how hygienically the self-service bar was maintained 🙇🏻♀️
My first homemade kimchi pancake at the DIY pancake station was a huge success! It was fun to make ourselves, and being able to choose the size was great. I loved this kind of service—it was one of the fun experiences 😁
For a soup dish, we had altang (a must-order menu item whenever you come to Veteran, number two). The plump roe popped wonderfully in the mouth. Overall, this was a generous, harmonious sashimi restaurant with top-notch value for money!
