Deuran-gil galbi restaurant in Daegu: LA galbi 300g at Jangpro

In short

Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is a hanwoo (Korean beef) restaurant on Deuran-ro in Suseong-gu, Daegu, with plenty of group tables that make it a regular pick for company dinners. This visit covered a plate of homemade seasoned LA galbi (300g) for 27,000 won and mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) for 7,000 won, served with salt sauce, garlic-scallion sauce and rice. At roughly 8,900 won per 100g, the LA galbi at Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is tender right down to the meat on the bone and pairs well half-and-half with hanwoo cuts.

Today's post: Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal, a great restaurant for group dinners in Suseong, Daegu!

I'd already been here once before for hanwoo (Korean beef) — hahahaha. Last time we grilled up a ton of hanwoo, but the place is literally called Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal and I hadn't even tried the galbitsal (short rib meat)???

So. Much. Regret. Going back. Immediately.

Where is Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal? Location, hours and parking

First, Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is located at 222 Deuran-ro, Suseong-gu, Daegu, between Huimang-ro intersection and Suseong Market Station!

Hours are 17:00–22:00 (every day), and for this coming Chuseok holiday they're only closed on Chuseok day itself — great for a family meal out over the holidays!

Parking is easy too, since there's a big lot right next to the restaurant, and if you call ahead they'll set aside a table for you, so definitely keep that in mind.

Inside Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal: group tables and the self-serve side dish bar

The interior is really spacious, and there are a lot of group tables, so if you're looking for a great spot in Suseong for a work dinner, I'd recommend it! There were just two of us, so we hesitated about taking a corner table in the back, but the owner said it was totally fine, so we grabbed a seat right under the AC haha.

Basic side dishes and baek-kimchi spread

When you sit down, they bring out the basic banchan (side dishes) first! Everything from the baek-kimchi (white kimchi) on down is refillable at the self-serve bar, which is nice to know. The staff kept restocking it regularly too, so it was always kept clean — loved that.

We started warming up our stomachs with corn salad while ordering drinks... but you can't have a Korean BBQ meal without alcohol, right! We weren't quite in sync on what to drink that day, so we each ordered our own thing haha.

How much is the homemade seasoned LA galbi, and what comes with it?

This time we ordered the homemade seasoned LA galbi (300g plate) for ₩27,000, mul-naengmyeon for ₩7,000, rice for ₩1,000, and soju/beer at ₩5,000 each!

The quality of this homemade galbi is insane. OMG. We genuinely love galbi and eat it all the time, pork and beef alike, and honestly there's nowhere else with this quality at this price.

Even the single-portion price (100g for ₩9,900) is already decent, but if you order the full plate it works out to about ₩8,900 per 100g, which is really good! If you're looking for a good-value restaurant in Suseong, Daegu, this is a serious recommendation..!!!

LA galbi grilling

For reference, I also tried the plain grilled cuts (makguyi) before, and those were delicious too, with a generous portion for the price?? But honestly the portion is so big that two people can get full just on that alone... whereas this LA galbi is something you absolutely have to order.

So next time I'm planning to go light on the flower galbi (kkotgalbi-sal) or chuck flap (salchi-sal), and then order the LA galbi after. Eating hanwoo and LA galbi half-and-half means you genuinely never get bored of it.

Cooked LA galbi with bone and meat

LA galbi tender down to the bone, with salt sauce and garlic-scallion sauce

Once the bone is grilled, the meat just slides right off, and even the meat near the bone wasn't tough at all — so delicious! It really felt like the textbook version of LA galbi, and it was just so, so good.

It's great dipped in the basic salt sauce, and the special garlic scallion sauce adds great savory depth too. The seasoning isn't too strong, but of course Koreans run on rice, so piled on top of a bowl of rice it's seriously... unbeatable.

Homemade seasoned LA galbi 300g for ₩27,000 at Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal, a Daegu Deuran-gil restaurant

Hahahahahahahahaha this is clearly a photo of someone eating happily... honestly, I think this one shot says it all. You can't eat like this if the food isn't good, seriously.

Honestly, once you've come all this way, I had a small thought — wouldn't it be better to just eat the hanwoo itself instead of seasoned meat? The quality was great last time too...

Nope, nope. If you skipped this you'd seriously regret it. It's insanely good~

Finishing with mul-naengmyeon for 7,000 won

For the finishing dish, we ordered mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) for ₩7,000! It came topped with egg garnish and meat, so the quality was solid, and it was exactly the taste that cools down a stomach full of grilled fat. Best choice.

Is Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal worth a visit?

If you're looking for a good restaurant near Suseonggu-cheong Station or Huimang-ro intersection in Suseong, Daegu, I highly recommend this place! Maybe because the hanwoo quality itself is so good, but even the LA galbi — despite the low price — is excellent, and honestly the best LA galbi I've had recently. I'm definitely ordering it again next time. It's a must-try menu item, so make sure to give it a shot!
