Indian tomato ramen set at a Seongsu basement ramen shop: Menya Pomo
In short
Menya Pomo Seongsu Branch is a tomato ramen restaurant in a basement two minutes on foot from Seongsu Station Exit 4 in Seongdong, Seoul. On a weekday lunch with no waiting, the order was the Korean beef cutlet ramen SET at 22,000 won (Indian tomato ramen, spice level 1, no cilantro, basil risotto rice) plus a fresh salad at 3,500 won — and an extra beef cutlet arrived because the set already included one. Stirring curry, tomato and basil cheese rice together at the end tasted nothing like standard Japanese ramen, and it is worth a return visit.

Today I visited Menya Pomo in Seongsu, a place famous for its tomato ramen :)

Where is Menya Pomo Seongsu Branch, and what are the hours?
Menya Pomo Seongsu Branch is at 37-17 Yeonmujang-gil, B1 Unit 101, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, a 2-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 4. It's open daily from 11:00 to 20:30, with break time from 15:20 to 17:00 and last order at 20:00.

It's easy to get to since it's just a 2-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 4, and since it hasn't been open that long, it's clean and there wasn't much of a wait, so go check it out quickly~! (Might just be because it was a weekday though haha)

First I looked over the menu and wow 😮 there were so many unique items~!! You can even have risotto after the ramen
Since it's underground, it was easy to find once I spotted the sign. Just head on down the stairs.
What are the solo dining seats like at Menya Pomo?
The inside of Menya Pomo Seongsu Branch is clean and the space is well divided. There are tables for 2 to 4 people, and there's also a spot that's really good for solo dining~! (I was in the area running errands and had a hard time finding solo-friendly spots in Seongsu, but I discovered this place after searching around✨) I highly recommend it🫶🏻

Four tomato ramen options at Menya Pomo
Menya Pomo has 5 kinds of ramen: bone broth tomato ramen, tom yum tomato ramen, Indian tomato ramen, and dan dan tomato ramen. They're all tomato ramen but you can pick based on preference, and honestly I'd never tried the tom yum or dan dan versions so I was really torn🤔

Each table has its own sauces (garlic oil, red pepper, pepper, Tabasco). There's even a detailed guide on how to enjoy the dish even more, so check that out. ⭐️Receipt review event⭐️ croquette, snowflake cheese, or fried shrimp

Such a thoughtful owner 🤍 Every table had hair ties and disposable wooden chopsticks neatly arranged. A staff member even noticed my outfit and thoughtfully gave me an apron~!
Menya Pomo says it's a place that offers tomato ramen, different from typical tonkotsu or shoyu ramen. They say it's a ramen restaurant that adds the deep richness of chicken-and-pork broth to the bright umami of tomato, bringing together chewy fresh noodles and hearty meat toppings in harmony.

What comes with the 22,000-won Korean beef cutlet ramen SET?
I ordered the Korean Beef Cutlet Ramen SET for ₩22,000 (spice level 1 / no cilantro / basil risotto rice) and the Fresh Salad for ₩3,500. I chose the set menu since it lets you eat tomato ramen, Korean beef cutlet, and risotto rice all together💖 The set actually already comes with the Korean beef cutlet, but I didn't know that and added an extra order ㅠㅠ (so I ended up with two servings of Korean beef cutlet,,,ㅎ)

The Korean beef cutlet Indian tomato ramen SET — once I ordered, staff brought it right to my table. Such a hearty set menu🐰🎧

The look of it doesn't feel like ramen at all~?! But it's piled high with toppings🍜
Fresh Salad

Finishing the broth with basil cheese rice risotto
The basil cheese rice is rice mixed with fragrant basil and savory cheese. After enjoying the ramen, mixing this into the leftover tomato broth turns it into a rich tomato risotto with basil aroma still alive~! Menya Pomo's recommended best way to finish👍🏻

There were garlic chips and some kind of cheese mixed in the middle of the basil cheese rice. It seemed like it would taste amazing mixed into the tomato ramen!!

The set even comes with 2 pieces of karaage!! Crispy on the outside, juicy inside, so good~

How does the Indian tomato ramen taste?
The Indian tomato ramen has 13 different spices, giving it a deep, rich flavor like Indian curry meets tomato ramen. They didn't skimp on toppings either — egg, onion, meat, and green onion all generously added👍🏻✨
And on top of that, there's the Korean beef cutlet, crispy outside and tender and moist inside~!! Eating it together in between bites made it even tastier

The noodles were nice and springy, and the thick, rich Indian tomato sauce seasoned them really well — the curry-plus-tomato combo is always delicious~~! At the end I mixed in the basil cheese rice, and as the cheese melted it became even thicker and more savory, with the fragrant basil adding a nice touch — the combination was better than I expected. It was fun to try a new take on ramen after only ever eating Japanese-style ramen, and I enjoyed it enough that I'd love to visit again🐰🫶🏻
