Itaewon pork bone stew with soybean cream broth: Nuri Maeul Gamjatang
In short
Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch is a gamjatang (pork bone stew) and braised-bone restaurant on the second floor of the building right in front of Itaewon Station in Yongsan, Seoul. The order was a medium soybean cream gamjatang for 43,000 won plus extra ugeoji (dried radish greens) for 4,000 won and a bowl of rice for 1,000 won, all placed on the table tablet, with side dishes and dishware arriving by unmanned delivery cart. The soybean cream, thick like a mousse, gave the broth a nutty richness that made it a filling meal.

Side dishes and dishware arrive by unmanned delivery
What was surprising was that side dishes, rice, and dishware all get delivered to each table by an unmanned robot 🥹🥹 Such a next-gen system ✨

What does soybean cream gamjatang taste like?
Ta-da ✨ After a short wait, my order arrived — soybean cream gamjatang, a menu item I'd never seen anywhere before, so it was fascinating 🫛🫢

The pot came out generously full, topped with a soft, mousse-like cream made from soybeans.

Curious, I scooped up just the cream and tasted it — it wasn't like the usual dairy cream flavor at all. It was actually soybean, but nutty and soft, and I got why it's called soybean cream.

Why extra ugeoji is a must in this pork bone stew
Adding extra ugeoji (dried radish greens) to gamjatang is essential ❕ The combination of tender meat and well-seasoned ugeoji worked so well together that skipping the extra would've been a real shame haha.

Inside the pot there were also several whole potatoes, enoki mushrooms, and perilla leaves — the generous mix made it fun to pick through and eat.

With the soybean cream mixed in, the broth turned even richer and nuttier, and the well-cooked meat came off the bone easily with chopsticks. The portion was huge too, so by the end I was really full 👍🏻

A fascinating and filling find — soft, delicious soybean cream gamjatang at Nuri Maeul Gamjatang Itaewon Branch ✨ Highly recommend for anyone looking for a Yongsan gamjatang restaurant or an Itaewon Korean restaurant 👍🏻👍🏻
