Charcoal chicken skewers & draft Cass beer in Seongnam: Kkokkok

The evening weather has been sooo nice lately. On days like this, nothing beats a walk with someone you like followed by a beer, right? So today I'm introducing Kkokkok (꼬꼬옥), a bar near Dandae-ogeori Station that pours draft beer on a whole different level!

Kkokkok, the popular bar near Dandae-ogeori Station, is genuinely charcoal-grilled — haha, it's so cute and gives off a trustworthy feel.

The interior vibe is perfect, totally that warm nostalgic style haha. From the moment you walk in, it's like they promise only songs you already know and love — already delicious before the food even arrives.

The tables are spacious, the spacing between them is just right, and there's thoughtful little touches everywhere — that's Kkokkok, the bar near Dandae-ogeori Station.

What's on the Kkokkok menu?

The most popular order here is the bamboo-charcoal grilled chicken skewers — you can choose salt, seasoned, or half-and-half. Side dishes include the famous kimchi noodle soup, steamed egg, nostalgic toast, gyoza dumplings, and more. It'd be perfect as a second-round bar (and yes, I came here for my second round too ><).

There's also a separate charcoal barbecue menu where you can add extra noodle toppings (sari) — recommended if you like sari and want an easy, hassle-free meal!!

Draft beer on another level: draft Cass for ₩5,000

And now for the main event — draft beer on a whole different level! I got super curious after reading a review saying that someone who'd been to Japan still thought Kkokkok's draft beer was better than Japanese beer. My boyfriend has this whole 'Japanese-beer-is-on-another-level' obsession and has been trying every famous draft beer out there haha. So today I ★absolutely had to★ order Kkokkok's signature draft Cass for ₩5,000.

The basic snacks that came out: chicken-leg-shaped crackers and cabbage salad. The chicken-leg crackers as a Kkokkok side dish are so cute haha, and the cabbage salad didn't taste like mayo but was really delicious?! What is that?!

Finally, the draft beer on another level arrived haha. I gave it that name myself but I'm proud of it. This is the draft beer from Kkokkok, the best draft beer spot in Seongnam.

You can tell just by looking that the foam is soft, right? This is Kkokkok's signature, boasting a (???) 70% pour ratio!! I watched them pour it and they did it just like a famous beer bar.

Wow, it was so cold and so smooth that the moment I drank it, I did that genuine involuntary eyebrow furrow. So so so good. I'm someone who has trouble with carbonation in beer, but I feel like I could drink 10 glasses of this one?

Kimchi noodle soup from Musoetdduk, ₩7,000

Kimchi noodle soup from Musoetdduk, ₩7,000. There's a genuinely delicious meat restaurant called Musoetdduk Samgyeop, and I think the owner might be the same person. If the kimchi noodle soup is approved by a meat restaurant, of course it's going to be good, right?

Cold, sweet, and tangy. But I love kimchi so much that I asked for extra on the side haha.

Half seasoned, half salted skewers, grilled the moment you order

Whoa... that's not a chicken skewer, that's a club haha.

Incredibly plump chicken skewers, half seasoned and half salted! They're not pre-grilled — they're grilled the moment you order, so they're extra juicy and hot.

These are the chicken skewers at Kkokkok near Dandae-ogeori Station, made entirely from plump thigh meat.

When you put the chicken on the sweetly grilled green onion and add a bit of wasabi... ah, it was genuinely a happy flavor.

They serve salt-and-pepper, a spicy sauce, and a white sauce — and honestly, my mouth hurts from saying all three are delicious, but they all are.

Dark draft beer for ₩7,000, and a surprising bathroom

Next, my dark-beer-loving boyfriend ordered the signature smooth dark draft beer without cinnamon for ₩7,000, and I ordered another draft Cass. The dark draft went down smoothly too — no bitterness, just delicious!!

And then I saw the bathroom and nearly fainted... the vanity was fancier than the one in my own room. The owner's sense of style is out of this world!! How could they be this thoughtful in every little detail ㅜㅜ. If you're dating someone new, come here — you can casually touch up your makeup on your way out.

The atmosphere, the music, the owner's sense of style, and above all, delicious food and beer. This is Kkokkok, the best chicken skewer spot in Seongnam, a blessing for Seongnam. I'm definitely coming back.
