Pre-wedding beef dinner for three in Janghanpyeong, Seoul: Ilbeonji
In short
Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch is a beef butcher restaurant on Janghan-ro near Janghanpyeong Station in Dongdaemun, Seoul. Two days before her wedding, the writer came straight from the ceremony rehearsal with her mom and boyfriend and the three of them finished the whole 900g small beef set (₩69,000) — sirloin, chuck flap tail, hanging tender, short rib fillet, flat iron and beef brisket — then added a bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold buckwheat noodles). With free valet parking and unlimited doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) refills, Ilbeonji works well for a family dinner.

Am I really a bride two days away from her wedding right now?
Because of lip-tension issues after the rehearsal, we decided to have beef together — me, my mom, and my boyfriend.

Ilbeonji near Janghanpyeong Station: free valet parking out front

Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch is right near Janghanpyeong Station, and they offer free valet parking right in front of the restaurant, so there was zero worry about parking even though we drove. Since we came straight from the wedding hall after the rehearsal, we had no choice but to bring the car, so being able to visit worry-free was a pretty huge plus.

Inside Ilbeonji: the dining room and the self-serve corner
The place itself is spacious and clean, so I felt good the moment I walked in. The tables are spaced generously too, so you can chat comfortably without worrying about the next table over — great structure for a family meal or small gathering. There's also a self-serve corner where you can freely refill kimchi, sauces, pickled onion, and scallions.

Is the 900g small beef set enough for three adults?
What we ordered was the small beef set. It's made up of sirloin, chuck flap tail, hanging tender, short rib fillet, flat iron, and beef brisket — 900g total, so you can eat a variety of cuts, and it was just the right amount for three adults!

Not long after we ordered, the basic side dishes came out and they placed a doenjang jjigae right in the middle of the grill. Staff kept coming by to refill both the broth and the ingredients of this stew, unlimited!

Small beef set price: ₩69,000, plus a ₩2,000 table setting fee per person
Our small beef set arrived. Being able to taste six different cuts in one go made it feel like great value for the price. The price is ₩69,000. Staff kindly explained exactly which cut each piece was, so even someone who doesn't know much about beef could understand easily, plus you learn how to eat each cut in the tastiest way.
Being a butcher restaurant, the meat prices are relatively cheap, but they charge a separate table setting fee instead. That fee is ₩2,000 per person.

The doenjang jjigae in the middle of the grill was bubbling away by now, and dropping in a few pieces of chadol (thinly sliced beef brisket) turns it straight into chadol-doenjang jjigae. Perfection★

How each cut tastes: chuck flap tail, hanging tender and beef brisket
The meat quality exceeded my expectations too — each cut had a different texture and flavor, so every bite felt like a new experience. The chuck flap tail, juicy and full of flavor, and the hanging tender, with its addictively chewy texture, were especially welcome since they're not cuts you get to eat often.
The beef brisket had beautiful marbling too, so when grilled the fat glistened and dripped, looking delicious before you even took a bite. As you'd expect from a butcher restaurant, you could really feel the difference in the freshness and quality of the meat itself.

Also, probably because it's a gas grill, the meat cooked noticeably fast. Grill quickly and sort the pieces well so nothing burns.

The meat was delicious whether dipped in salt or ssamjang (Korean dipping sauce). Absolutely insanely good.

Mushrooms can't be skipped either. Chewy and juicy, so good, huhu. As for the garlic, grilling it with plenty of sesame oil kept it from burning and made it nutty and delicious.

Finishing with bibim naengmyeon after clearing all 900g
Both my boyfriend and I eat less than we used to, and my mom was never a big eater either, so honestly I wondered if the three of us could really finish 900g. But we cleared every last bit, lol.
To finish, we had to add bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold buckwheat noodles).
My mom's a mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) person, I'm a mix-of-both person, and my boyfriend's a bibim (spicy mixed) person — but since they gave us the mul-naengmyeon broth on the side too, we could portion out the noodles and satisfy everyone's needs. The chili paste was heaped on generously so it was a bit spicy, though that might partly be my low spice tolerance, lol.
Anyway, right down to the naengmyeon, it was such a delicious and satisfying meal. If you're looking for a beef butcher restaurant near Janghanpyeong Station, I strongly recommend Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch. A generously composed cut-by-cut set, friendly staff explanations, free valet, and a spacious, clean space — an all-around satisfying visit 🥩
