Did you know there's a great webfoot octopus spot near Sutonggol? I only just found out about it myself, and ever since I've been going around bragging about how good it is haha. It's called Boksakkot Pineun Jip (복사꽃피는집), and since it's near Sutonggol, it's also a great spot for a weekend drive-and-eat trip.
- Location: 238-34 Wongyesan-ro, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, South Korea, 1st floor
- Hours: 11:00–21:30 (last order 20:30)
First off, the parking lot was huge so I didn't have to worry about parking at all, and the restaurant itself was pretty spacious too. With such a big space, it seemed like a great spot for family meals or group dinners.
How big is Boksakkot Pineun Jip, and who can use the kids' room?
Boksakkot Pineun Jip Daejeon Branch turned out to be even bigger inside than it looked from outside. Every table had a tablet ordering system, so we ordered right from our seats.

Looking through the menu, we ended up ordering the fire-grilled octopus stir-fry set (stage 1) for two, and once we spotted fried potatoes on the menu, we added that too.
The fire-grilled octopus stir-fry set came with salad, mukbap (acorn jelly soup), and a handmade fire-oven pizza. For the pizza, you could choose between gorgonzola and pepperoni — most octopus restaurants only offer gorgonzola pizza, so I was happy to see pepperoni as an option and picked that right away.

There was also a kids' room off to one side of the restaurant. When you go out to eat with kids, they sometimes get bored while the adults are eating, so having a separate play space inside the restaurant seemed perfect for family visits.
Just a note though — the kids' room requires a guardian to accompany the child, and it's only for children age 5 and under.
Side dishes and the self-serve bar at Boksakkot Pineun Jip
After a short wait, the basic side dishes, salad, and mukbap came out first. The side dishes included seasoned bean sprouts, young radish kimchi, japchae (stir-fried glass noodles), and dongchimi (watery radish kimchi).

There was a separate self-serve bar here, so we could refill any side dish, rice, or soup as much as we wanted. But then I noticed something else — I wanted a cola, but there were no drinks on the menu? Weird, I thought, why aren't there any drinks?
Turns out the drinks were at the self-serve bar too!!!! Is this place heaven or something,,,?🥹
The salad was drizzled with a refreshing yuzu dressing, making it light and easy to eat, and the mukbap was a bit lukewarm but still good for whetting the appetite before the spicy octopus stir-fry. All the basic side dishes worked well alongside the spicy octopus too.
Are the 3,000-won fries worth adding?
The fried potatoes at Boksakkot Pineun Jip were ₩3,000, and the portion was bigger than I expected. A little while later, a serving robot rolled up to our table, and turned out it was bringing us the fries haha.
Best of all, they were freshly fried and super crispy. Once I started eating, I couldn't stop reaching for more. The price is easy on the wallet and the portion is generous, so it'd make a great side dish if you're coming with kids.
Pepperoni fire-oven pizza instead of gorgonzola

A little while later, the serving robot brought over the pepperoni pizza haha. While I was busy taking photos of it, the octopus stir-fry finally showed up too.
We decided to try the pizza first before the cheese set. Fresh out of the oven, the cheese stretched beautifully — looked amazing, right?

Honestly, a lot of octopus restaurants serve pizza with the meal, but it's often a thin, tortilla-like crust — small enough that one person could finish it alone, which is a bit disappointing sometimes. But the pizza here was loaded with cheese, and with one bite the cheese stretched way out, plus the salty pepperoni flavor added a great balance. If you're not a fan of gorgonzola, I'd recommend trying pepperoni here.
How spicy is the stage-1 fire-grilled webfoot octopus?
And finally, the octopus stir-fry arrived!!

A table absolutely packed with the fire-grilled octopus stir-fry set — so generous, right?

There was a big bowl for mixing the octopus stir-fry, along with roasted seaweed flakes and finely chopped lettuce.

I fished out a piece of octopus first and tried it — wow,,,🤤 the sauce had a smoky charred flavor and it was so good.

The octopus was plump and chewy without being tough — a great texture.

The sauce was exactly the type that tastes best mixed with rice, so we went straight for it. Octopus stir-fry just has to be mixed with rice!!
We added a bowl of rice first, piled on plenty of the octopus stir-fry, and mixed it all together. Doesn't that bright red mixed rice look so appetizing?
If the octopus stir-fry feels a bit too spicy, mixing in some of the seasoned bean sprouts on the side would probably help. We ordered the stage-1 spice level and figured the portion would get even bigger, so we skipped the bean sprouts.

And then I took a bite of the well-mixed rice — wow,, it was honestly about 3 times tastier than I'd imagined haha.
There was a subtle smoky char flavor from the fire-grilling, and the sauce paired really well with the rice. The octopus was plump and chewy, so piling a piece on top of each spoonful of rice kept me reaching for more.

Eating the spicy octopus stir-fry, then grabbing a bite of pepperoni pizza, then a fry here and there — my stomach was filling up fast.

Even the view out the window was great,,

The café by the register and the annex lounge
Everything about the food was delicious, and we ate very satisfied. But the meal wasn't over yet! Once we were full and happy and heading to the register to pay,,

There was a small café right by the register!?

At first I thought it was a separately run café, but it turns out you can get takeout coffee right there. I was genuinely shocked,,,
There was a wide variety of coffee too. Americano, latte, café mocha, vanilla latte, a-shot-chu (espresso shot in soda), plus chamomile tea, burdock tea, peach iced tea, hot chocolate, and iced chocolate.
We ordered iced chamomile and a-shot-chu and headed out with our drinks. But that wasn't the end either!!

There's another building right next to the restaurant that I first thought was a separate café. Turns out that's part of Boksakkot Pineun Jip too.

It was a space where you could bring your coffee in and sit down like at a café before heading out.
Is dessert included after the meal?
It was surprising enough to find a café-like resting space, but then there was dessert too. Yet another shock, round two lol.
Simple desserts, but you could eat as much as you liked. I thought I was way too full to eat anything else, but seeing this, I couldn't resist lol.
We scooped some into paper cups and munched on dessert before leaving. (The cherry-flavored corn puffs were slightly tangy and crunchy — so good,,) It was adorable watching kids go back and forth scooping dessert into their paper cups too haha.

That day, we just went out for a meal, but ended up eating pizza, drinking coffee, resting in a café, and finishing with dessert too🐽 Have you ever seen a restaurant go this far? I was truly in culture shock lol.
Boksakkot Pineun Jip, a Yuseong, Daejeon octopus restaurant: final verdict
Overall, this visit to Boksakkot Pineun Jip left me very satisfied. The parking lot was spacious and convenient, and the restaurant itself was large enough for group visits too. Having a kids' room for children was great, and being able to freely use the self-serve bar for side dishes and drinks was a real plus.
But above all, the octopus stir-fry was delicious. With its subtle smoky char and plump, chewy octopus, it paired perfectly when mixed with rice.
The pizza was better than expected too, and the fried potatoes were crispy and great as a side. And being able to get coffee and dessert after the meal meant we could handle everything from dinner to dessert in one place, which I really liked.
It'd be a great spot to take your parents out to eat, and also perfect for anyone looking for a place to eat with kids. Ever since I went, I've been going around rambling about how good it was haha — I'd love to come back soon for another round of octopus stir-fry.
If you're looking for a good meal near Sutonggol, why not combine it with a weekend drive and have a hearty meal at Boksakkot Pineun Jip? I especially recommend it if you're after a great octopus restaurant in Daejeon, a good spot near Sutonggol, or a comfortable place to eat with family!
