Open kitchen and kiosk ordering at a Seocho snack restaurant: Deokjane
In short
Deokjane Bangatgan is a garaetteok (thick rice cake) tteokbokki and snack restaurant on the L1 floor of Gangnam Station I'Park 1, near Sinnonhyeon Station in Seocho, Seoul. The spacious room has an open kitchen and a self-service corner, and orders go through the kiosk at the entrance; this visit was takeout of garaetteok tteokbokki, chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage), spicy tuna gimbap (seaweed rice roll) and 2 boiled eggs. 📍 Deokjane Bangatgan, Sinnonhyeon (L1 floor, 62 Seocho-daero 77-gil, Seocho-gu) ⏰ Open daily 11:00–20:30 (Break time 14:30–16:00 / Last order 20:00)

Deokjane Bangatgan is a famous Sinnonhyeon tteokbokki spot known for its garaetteok (long cylindrical rice cake) tteokbokki. Takeout and delivery are both available, but the store is spacious inside too, so it's great for eating in!! It's not tucked into some loud alley either, so the atmosphere was clean and quiet — I liked that haha.

What is on the menu at Deokjane Bangatgan?
The main menu at this Sinnonhyeon favorite includes tteokbokki, eomuk (fish cake), water-boiled rice cakes, fried snacks, sundae, and bibim mandu (mixed dumplings), plus a wide variety of gimbap options haha. There's also ramyeon, jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles), and pork cutlet for a light solo meal, so it looked great for eating alone too!!

Since it's a Sinnonhyeon tteokbokki restaurant, there are also lots of set menus that include tteokbokki. The set combinations are really varied, so there were tons of options! Depending on your group size or preferences, ordering a set menu is a great value pick haha.

Ordering at Deokjane Bangatgan: kiosk or counter?
At Deokjane Bangatgan, you grab a table first, then you can order either at the kiosk by the entrance or at the counter.

Seating and the open kitchen at Deokjane Bangatgan
This Sinnonhyeon Station tteokbokki spot has plenty of table space inside, ranging from small 2-person tables to 4-person tables, so it's good both for solo dining and eating with a group!

The self-service corner and kitchen are both open-style, so it felt super, super clean and satisfying!! Since the tteokbokki is pre-cooked and left to soak up the sauce, the food came out really fast too, which I liked haha.

The takeout order: tteokbokki, sundae, spicy tuna gimbap and boiled eggs
I took out tteokbokki, sundae, spicy tuna gimbap, and 2 boiled eggs from Deokjane Bangatgan. The portions were huge and everything was packed neatly, which was satisfying haha. The location is close to Sinnonhyeon Station too, so it's great for grabbing a meal before heading home, or quickly picking up takeout on your way back from work.

How does the garaetteok tteokbokki taste?
This Sinnonhyeon tteokbokki favorite, Deokjane Bangatgan. I remembered how delicious this tteokbokki was from before, and it was still just as good ㅜㅜㅜㅜㅜ Since it's garaetteok tteokbokki, the rice cakes are thick, but the sauce still soaks all the way through, and the texture is so chewy and delicious!! I still haven't found anywhere with garaetteok tteokbokki this good..

The eomuk is also thick and plain without any greasiness, making it really tasty, and the sauce has a well-balanced sweet-and-spicy flavor that pretty much anyone would like — this is that beloved garaetteok tteokbokki from Deokjane Bangatgan in Sinnonhyeon ❤️ If you love tteokbokki, you really have to try this garaetteok tteokbokki here.. you'll fall for its charm.. 💯💯

Chapssal sundae with tteokbokki
The sundae is chapssal sundae (glutinous rice blood sausage), so it pairs incredibly well with the tteokbokki, and the portion was generous too, which was satisfying haha. They gave a little salt on the side too, but the sundae itself was seasoned just right, so dipping it straight into the tteokbokki sauce alone was plenty tasty haha. Classic chapssal sundae really is the perfect match for tteokbokki..👍🏻

Spicy tuna gimbap at Deokjane Bangatgan
This spicy tuna gimbap (seaweed rice roll) is really thick !! The filling is super generous too, and the crunchy, spicy chili combined with the tuna was such a great match haha. It'd be great takeout gimbap for office workers in the area too!!
How to get to Deokjane Bangatgan from Sinnonhyeon Station
Deokjane Bangatgan is located on the L1 floor of the Gangnam Station I'Park 1 building, and it's easy to spot right from the one-way alley behind Kyobo Tower!!
