I visited Daidokoro Gwangbok Branch, a Japanese home-style restaurant inside Lotte Department Store in Nampo-dong, Busan.
Daidokoro, a famous local favorite in Gwangalli, Busan, has successfully made its way into a department store!
It's a place recognized for its taste and care, having been selected as one of "Busan's Tastes," so I went in with high expectations~~

Japan's teishoku culture is characterized by a main dish served alongside rice, soup, and several small side dishes, all neatly arranged on one tray. Served as an individual place setting, it's both hygienic and gives you the feeling of being pampered — a style of dining loved around the world!

Seeing how the food was plated, I immediately understood why it's so popular with locals haha. It came out on individual trays with various side dishes in that cute, neat Japanese home-style presentation, and it really felt like being pampered. There was even a cute ketchup drawing on the rice!! (Welcome and Love ❤️)
Curry included with every set: how did the chicken nanban and kkanpunggi taste?
Every set menu at Daidokoro Gwangbok Branch comes standard with curry included, so you get to taste it without ordering it separately — very practical and nice. The staff were also friendly, which made the whole meal a pleasant experience 😌
The chicken nanban set had tender chicken piled with a generous, savory house-made tartar sauce, while the kkanpunggi set had a spicy-sweet sauce that really got the appetite going.
The croquettes we added as a side (a potato croquette and a sweet potato croquette!) were properly crispy outside and soft inside, and the menbosha (shrimp toast) was crunchy with plump, tightly packed filling — a great side dish or drinking snack!
The portions were so generous we couldn't finish it all, so we packed up some of the leftover croquettes and menbosha haha
To finish the meal, a little house-made milk pudding, yum. A soft, sweet pudding to cleanse the palate made it a hearty meal that took care of dessert too!
