While visiting Busan, I was looking for lunch and wanted somewhere I could have both tonkatsu and soba, so I went to Yuyu Katsu Haeundae Branch, a tonkatsu restaurant in Haeundae! It's close to Jangsan Station too, so it's great for anyone searching for Japanese food near Jangsan Station, and hearty enough to make a perfect Jwa-dong lunch spot haha.
Yuyu Katsu isn't just about tonkatsu — the menu also includes tenzaru soba, udon sets, fish katsu, cheese katsu and more, so it's great for solo dining as well as dates, family meals, or work dinners. Let me introduce Yuyu Katsu Busan Haeundae Branch.

Outside Yuyu Katsu, an aged Japanese tonkatsu specialist
Yuyu Katsu Busan Haeundae Branch specializes in aged Japanese-style tonkatsu, and also serves soba and udon sets. There's an excellent hygiene grade certificate posted at the entrance, so you can walk in feeling reassured.

It's a great spot for a Haeundae tonkatsu restaurant, a Jwa-dong lunch spot, or Japanese food near Jangsan Station.

Domestic rice and pork used + excellent hygiene grade. Taste matters, but I also pay attention to the ingredients and hygiene of a restaurant, and Yuyu Katsu Haeundae Branch uses domestic rice and domestic pork for its katsu 👍
Inside Yuyu Katsu: bar seats that suit solo diners
Stepping inside Yuyu Katsu Busan Haeundae Branch, the wood-toned interior and soft lighting gave it a cozy feel. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of tables, including 4-person tables and bar seating, so eating alone was easy too.
The interior was neatly kept overall, and I especially liked the open kitchen structure where you can see everything 👍 There were quite a few solo diners too haha.

Being able to see the cooking area directly made me trust the place even more.

A high chair was also available, so it looked fine to visit with kids too.
Yuyu Katsu menu and prices

This is the menu board at Yuyu Katsu Busan Haeundae Branch. Yuyu Katsu offers a wide range of dishes beyond tonkatsu, including tenzaru soba, udon sets, fish katsu, and cheese katsu.
Side dishes and table setting at Yuyu Katsu
All the sauce bottles are right there on the table. Yuzu dressing, tonkatsu sauce, and sesame sauce are all provided. There's even a machine for grinding sesame seeds haha. Soup pepper and lemon-kosho are also included.
From extra side dishes like salad or pickled radish to water and spoons, everything was already on the table, so you didn't need to call a staff member for those things. Spoons and chopsticks were neatly placed on the table too. Soup was served before the meal, which was nice to sip while waiting.
How to eat the katsu the way Yuyu Katsu suggests

Yuyu Katsu Haeundae Branch gives you a sheet explaining how to enjoy your tonkatsu even more, with Korean on the front and English on the back, neatly organized. Even on a first visit, you could immediately tell how to eat it, and I liked that thoughtful touch haha.

They also give you oil and tell you to add 2-3 drops of truffle oil, so I'd recommend trying a bite plain first, then comparing with a drop of oil added. That's what I did too. Adding a little truffle oil to the soup doubled the flavor and really woke up my appetite — Jmt >.<

The soup wasn't bland at all — it was packed with ingredients, savory and rich, a really high-quality soup.

How to eat it deliciously: 1. Salt 2. Wasabi 3. Salt with ground sesame. From the truffle oil to grinding your own sesame, there were so many ways to enjoy the tonkatsu to your taste, which made eating it more fun.
Tenzaru soba set (+2 shrimp) with 10-hour tsuyu

The buckwheat noodle set comes with fried shrimp and inari (fried tofu pockets), so you get chewy noodles, crispy fried shrimp, and a filling rice option all together — it was so good haha.

The visuals are amazing, right?? For the soba, the noodles and broth come separately — you pick up as much noodle as you want and dip it into the broth! I liked that you don't dump it all in at once but dip a little at a time as you eat. Having cold soba between bites of crispy tonkatsu was a great combo, and with the shrimp added on top, you get tonkatsu + soba + shrimp all in one — I'd recommend this to anyone looking for Japanese food near Jangsan Station.

The soba portion was fairly generous, and there were two cups of tsuyu dipping sauce for the noodles, so we happily shared one each haha.

The noodles were chewy and the tsuyu wasn't too salty, which I liked. It tasted exactly like proper soba should haha. They even simmer the soba broth for 10 hours themselves!

The inari was genuinely delicious 🤤
Special mixed katsu: pork loin, tenderloin and cheese katsu

The special mixed katsu lets you try several types of katsu at once, perfect for anyone who can't decide on just one.

The side dishes come neatly arranged: pickled radish rounds, danmuji (yellow pickled radish), sauce, and pickled mustard leaf. The rice is suhyangmi variety, which made it even more savory and delicious. Side dishes can also be refilled, and you can call for a refill instantly through the kiosk, which was convenient.

The special mixed katsu comes with loin, tenderloin, and cheese (1/2 loin, 1/2 tenderloin, 2pcs cheese katsu) — three types, so it was great for trying different flavors. The tenderloin was clean and mild, the loin had more bounce than the tenderloin, and the cheese katsu had savory cheese and finely minced, tender meat.

Dipping the tonkatsu in salt let me really taste its natural flavor. Seeing the cheese stretch out in long strings was completely satisfying.
Verdict: who should try Yuyu Katsu in Jwa-dong, Haeundae?
- Anyone looking for a place to eat solo in Jwa-dong, Haeundae
- Anyone craving soba or an udon set
- A good spot for family gatherings, group dinners, or dates
- A tonkatsu spot near Jwa-dong Market
- A place that uses domestic pork, low-temperature aged
- Impressive for its crispy coating and juicy meat
With great taste, atmosphere, and friendly service all in one, Yuyu Katsu Haeundae Branch is a Jwa-dong spot I'd recommend if you're looking for a restaurant near Jangsan Station in Jwa-dong, Haeundae. I had a hearty lunch enjoying both tonkatsu and cool soba together at Yuyu Katsu Haeundae Branch, so if you're after a Haeundae tonkatsu restaurant, a filling Jwa-dong lunch spot, or Japanese food near Jangsan Station where you can enjoy tonkatsu and soba together, I think it's well worth a visit ෆ
