Moshi Moshi PNU Branch near NC Department Store PNU

We both love sushi so much that we regularly go looking for sushi restaurants 🍣 This time, we visited Moshi Moshi PNU Branch (모시모시 부산대점). Actually, Moshi Moshi is a great sushi spot that we have visited and paid for ourselves before, too!

Moshi Moshi PNU Branch is near NC Department Store PNU! You can also take a quick look at the menu right in front of the restaurant.

You can keep your shoes on when you come in. The interior had a warm, cozy wood-toned feel. There is a large window along one side and plenty of seating, so it seemed nice for a PNU date or a get-together with friends or family. We sat by the window 🪟 High chairs are available, and there is also a country-of-origin information board.

Choosing a set and à la carte sushi

There were pictures of homemade plum ade and Kirin draft beer on the table, and I wanted both so badly!! The line saying the plums were prepared in-house and aged for three years totally got me, so we ordered the homemade plum ade haha.

Adding al-bap and our favorite sushi to Set 2

Our pick, Set 2 for two, comes with 16 pieces of sushi, char siu, and a choice of one noodle. You can choose between the standard and premium versions. The amount of food is the same, but the sushi toppings differ. The noodle choices were udon and pan-memil, chilled buckwheat noodles. We chose the standard version and pan-memil.

At first, we debated between Set 1, which includes al-bap, and Set 2, which includes char siu. But we wanted both al-bap and char siu, so we added al-bap to Set 2! We also added homemade plum ade and four pieces of à la carte sushi that we especially wanted.

First came the salad, tofu salad, soup, ginger, and danmuji (pickled yellow radish). Personally, that soft tofu salad was exactly my kind of thing.

Homemade plum ade and 16 pieces of sushi

This is the homemade plum ade. At our house, we also periodically make plum syrup ourselves by putting plums and sugar in a big earthenware jar, and it tasted just like that plum flavor!! It was like rich plum extract with carbonation added. Its signature sweet-tart, clean plum flavor refreshed my mouth whenever I took a sip between all the dishes.

Here are the 16 pieces of sushi from Set 2. One colorful plate held inari, egg, eel, scallop, squid, raw shrimp, cooked shrimp, two tuna pieces, two salmon pieces, and four flatfish pieces. I liked the variety, with everything from white fish to shrimp, salmon, and tuna. They were all types I love!!

The à la carte sushi we added was squid, cooked shrimp, tako wasabi, and flying-fish roe. Squid and cooked shrimp are in the basic set, but we love them so much that we added one of each per person. The tako wasabi, with punchy wasabi and chewy octopus, was Wonmong's pick; the flying-fish roe sushi packed with popping roe was my pick. I was so happy to have sushi piled high 🤗 Doesn't it look delicious?

Set 2 and added à la carte sushi spread

The sushi rice was seasoned with just the right amount of vinegar, and the fish was fresh—such delicious sushi. It is truly a great sushi restaurant!!

Tender char siu and sizzling al-bap

This is the char siu that came with the set. It was a little unusual to get char siu at a sushi restaurant, but it was absolutely great char siu, too!! The lightly sweet sauce was so tasty, and above all, the char siu was incredibly soft and tender.

Char siu with onions and ginger

It was even better with the onions and ginger that came with it. Wonmong took a little rice off a piece of sushi, put char siu on the sushi rice, and made char siu sushi haha.

Since we had char siu, we wanted a rice dish too, so we added al-bap, rice with flying-fish roe. It came in a hot stone pot, and as soon as it arrived, the crackling sound of the al-bap cooking in the pot already looked delicious. With rice crisping up against the pot and plenty of popping flying-fish roe, there was no way it could not be good. We mixed it all up and enjoyed it. Char siu and al-bap together made for such a filling meal.

Hot stone-pot al-bap

This is the pan-memil included in the set. The tsuyu dipping sauce that came with it was not overly salty, so we dipped the noodles in almost all the way. Having a cool bite of buckwheat noodles in the middle of eating sushi felt so refreshing.

Sushi missing one flatfish piece and pan-memil
I could not resist and ate one piece of flatfish sushi before taking the photo haha.

We ordered everything we wanted and had a table full of food, which made us so happy.

A full spread of sushi, char siu, and al-bap

I like eating sushi with rakkyo, pickled scallions, so I asked whether they had any and they kindly brought some over. They also have mint candies! The little sushi-making doll was so cute, too. There were business cards and toothpicks as well.

When you want to try different kinds of sushi

The set menu included many different kinds of sushi, so it was great for tasting a variety. I also liked that, like us, you can add the sushi you want as à la carte pieces. The sushi was clean and delicious, and we were satisfied with all the side dishes, including the char siu and al-bap. If you are looking for good sushi around Pusan National University, sushi in Jangjeon-dong, or a good PNU lunch, I recommend Moshi Moshi PNU Branch!
