Gijang outlet restaurant by the UGG store with no queue: Bueokgan

Visited Gijang Shinsegae Outlets for the first time this weekend! Surprised once by the crowds at the outlet and twice by the wait at Bueokgan, the Gijang outlet restaurant — here's my very personal, honest review ❕️

How to find Bueokgan in the North zone, and the storefront

Bueokgan Restaurant is located at the very back of the North zone of Gijang Shinsegae Outlets. The outlet is so huge you probably couldn't see it all even if you arrived in the morning 🏬 It's split into a North zone and a South zone, and the Bueokgan we visited sits at the very back of the North zone.

How to find Bueokgan, the Gijang Shinsegae Outlets restaurant 🗺 From the entrance, walk straight through NORTH PLAZA square and you'll reach the UGG store.

Go past the UGG store and turn left, and you'll find Bueokgan's entrance (right next to the men's restroom and the elevator).

Inside Bueokgan: interior and why it works with a baby

Bueokgan has spacious, clean table seating, which made it feel like an ideal outlet restaurant to visit with a baby. (Diaper-changing tables are in both men's and women's restrooms — the women's restroom is to the left once you exit the store.)

Both baby chairs and kids' tableware are provided, which really lives up to Bueokgan's reputation as a restaurant moms love. 🐤 During peak hours the kids' tableware can run out, so I'd recommend requesting it ahead of time or bringing your own if you're visiting on a weekend. We came after the weekend lunch peak had passed, and there wasn't enough kids' tableware for us 🥲

Bueokgan Restaurant has a strong European atmosphere 🍽 the seats were comfortable and had a warm feel, which I loved.

The objects scattered around the space are pretty and full of atmosphere, making Bueokgan, this Gijang Shinsegae Outlets restaurant, feel like a little getaway.

What's on the menu at Bueokgan

Bueokgan's menu is divided into soups, salads, pasta, pizza and steak. The pizza selection in particular was quite varied.

• ✅️ Signature items: sweet pumpkin soup, a pastry-topped version of the pumpkin soup, napa cabbage Caesar salad, grilled mushroom salad, carbonara, vongole pasta, truffle mushroom gnocchi, and more
• 🍕 Pizzas: pepperoni pizza, basil margherita, arugula prosciutto pizza, truffle mushroom pizza, jambon pizza
• 🥩 One steak option, available in two sizes: Bueokgan Tenderloin Steak (200g) / (400g)

The full table: four dishes we ordered

We ordered the sweet pumpkin soup / napa cabbage Caesar salad / abalone cream risotto / basil margherita pizza.

Napa cabbage Caesar salad

After going back and forth with the grilled mushroom salad, we ordered the napa cabbage Caesar salad!

A big piece of napa cabbage comes out nicely grilled, topped generously with bacon chips, sun-dried tomatoes, onion flakes and cheese — there's no way it wouldn't taste good. It's distinctive and delicious enough to be one of Bueokgan's best menu items, so I'd recommend trying it at least once.

Basil margherita

Of the many pizza options, we chose the basil margherita 🍕

It's a basic margherita, but with a basil pesto base underneath and sun-dried tomatoes and arugula leaves on top, so it came out fresh and a little sweet at the same time. Totally my taste — I was so happy with it 👍🏻

Sweet pumpkin soup

Dipping the crust ends of the pizza into the pumpkin soup was honey-level delicious 🍯 I almost got the pastry-topped soup that's always at buffets, but ordered the plain pumpkin soup instead since we were eating it alongside the pizza — good call. We ended up so, so full ^^,,,

Even though it's a small soup portion, they thoughtfully gave each of us our own little plate 👍🏻

Abalone cream risotto

Ordered this smooth abalone cream risotto for my husband, who's currently in treatment ~~~ The abalone intestine sauce blended really well with the cream, and it wasn't fishy at all, just savory, so our kid ate it well too haha. The finely chopped abalone, clam meat and fried enoki mushroom worked really well together 👍🏻

What was the weekend wait like at Bueokgan?

One downside of Bueokgan is that the weekend wait can be long! With a varied menu that's great for family meals and food that tastes good, there were still tons of people waiting even though we came after the rush had passed 👥 It wasn't just the waiting itself — there was no clear waiting system in place, which made things pretty confusing. The staff were kind without a hint of annoyance even while swamped, working nonstop without a break..^_ㅠ I couldn't help but wish they'd hire a few more staff.
