Raymond Isu Branch: an after-work pizza and beer bar in Sadang-dong
These days I find myself craving a cold beer after work more and more. I was meeting a friend around Sadang-dong and looking for a place with good vibes when I spotted a bar with a striking exterior. It had a distinctive pizza pub feel with strong American vibes — this was Raymond Isu Branch, a restaurant-bar in Sadang-dong.
Even from a distance, the red-and-white striped awning caught my eye and I found myself drawn in almost against my will. From the outside alone, it gave off the unique atmosphere of a tiny New York slice shop transplanted right there.

Where is Raymond Isu Branch and how do you get there from Isu Station?

It's tucked inside the Isu Station food alley, so it was really easy to get to by public transit. The entrance had oak barrel decor and a vintage sign, which also made for a great photo spot.
Inside Raymond Isu Branch: a New York pub mood

Stepping inside, warm, vintage lighting wrapped around the whole space. The ornate chandeliers combined with the reddish glow really brought out the lively energy of a night out drinking.
Along the walls were various craft beer taps and pizza display cases. Kiosk screens were set up both above the counter and at every table, which made ordering easy. The tables were spaced generously and the seats were comfortable — perfect for chatting away over beers.
Small details at Raymond, from origin labels to the decor

Next to the counter, an origin-labeling board was displayed transparently, so everything was clear at a glance. Sausages use domestic pork, chicken is from Brazil, and bacon and pepperoni are a mix of domestic and imported products.
A lot of people are sensitive about food sourcing these days, so having this posted so clearly built more trust for me. The self-service bar area was kept clean too, and it was easy to grab whatever utensils or sauces we needed.
What we ordered at Raymond Isu Branch and what it cost
Sitting down at the table, we browsed the order kiosk and slowly piled our picks together.
- Big Brown Potato Pizza slice (₩8,900)
- Big Pepperoni Pizza slice (₩7,500)
- Rosé Tteokbokki, slight spicy (₩14,900)
- American Pale Ale (₩7,500)
- Belgian Witbier (₩7,500)
- Garlic cheese sauce (₩300)
- Zero Coke (₩4,000)
The pizza lineup was really varied, but what caught my eye was the Brown Potato Pizza, billed as the world's first Lotus potato pizza. It's made with 100% natural mozzarella, handmade Italian tomato sauce, and low-temperature aged dough, so I had high expectations.
How did the brown potato pizza and rose tteokbokki taste together?

As soon as our order arrived, the table filled up in the best way. The Brown Potato Pizza came topped with a special potato salad, onion, sweet corn, Lotus jam, Lotus crumble, and brown cheese — the textbook definition of sweet and salty.
At first I wasn't sure Lotus (biscuit spread) would work on pizza, but it turned out less sweet than expected, with a nutty flavor that paired really well with the mild potato.

The rosé tteokbokki (stir-fried rice cake) we ordered alongside had a bit of a kick, which cut right through the greasiness the pizza could otherwise leave behind. The rich rosé sauce was loaded with chewy rice cakes and made for a fantastic beer snack.
American pale ale and Belgian witbier: the craft beers that finished the meal
No pizza-and-beer session is complete without the beer. We ordered American Pale Ale and Belgian Witbier from Art Monster's craft beer lineup. The fragrant fruity notes and pleasant bitterness typical of craft beer matched fantastically with the nuttiness of the pizza dough.
Taking a cool sip of beer and biting into a crisp slice of pizza felt like all the fatigue from the day melted away. The food quality was great and the portions generous, so we got to enjoy it all the way through without any letdown.
Raymond Isu Branch, a restaurant-bar in Sadang-dong, struck me as a great spot for a casual get-together with friends or a cold beer after work. If you're near Isu Station looking for a proper pizza-and-beer place or a bar with some real atmosphere, I'd definitely recommend stopping by.
