Garlic tip for beef tripe soup in Jeju: Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi
In short
Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi is a bone-broth haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant right by Hyeopjae Beach in Hallim-eup, Jeju. As the first meal after landing in Jeju, the writer ordered two mains — beef tripe soup at 12,000 won and Jeju black pork bulgogi at 12,000 won — and the owner's tip to stir garlic into the tripe soup doubled its flavor. Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi opens at 8am, which makes it an easy stop before or after the airport.

I pop up east, west, everywhere ~ so this time I want to introduce Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, the Hyeopjae restaurant I ate so well at on my Jeju trip haha. Fancy a bowl?

Inside Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi: the room and the wait
Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi has a big dining room, so you don't have to worry too much about waiting. Even though I got there before lunchtime, the place was already packed with people finishing up and people eating. Since it's open from 8am to 9pm, it's so easy to swing by before or after the airport ~

Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi menu: bone-broth haejangguk
Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi's abalone soondubu (soft tofu stew), beef tripe soup, and beef haejangguk are all bone-broth based, adding extra depth of flavor 👏🏻💪👏🏻 There's even a kids' haejangguk, so it's great for little ones too ~

+ There's even a baby chair. Moms go for the sea snail haejangguk, dads who drank the night before go for the abalone pollock soup, and MZ-generation kids go for beef tripe soup instead of mala haha. Perfect for everyone, young and old!

What we ordered at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi and what it cost
All the side dishes were delicious too haha, including the miyeok julgi muchim (seasoned seaweed stem salad) that I love ^ㅠ^ So what did I go and demolish today...
- ✔️ Beef tripe soup — ₩12,000
- ✔️ Jeju black pork bulgogi — ₩12,000
(But the prices are just too good..?)

And in the same breath I went ahead and knocked out both of them haha. I'm the type who eats two meals like it's one ~

Main 1: Jeju black pork bulgogi, 12,000 won
The bulgogi came out first..! Big portion, smoky char, 🩷;🩷 and they even gave lettuce wraps, so I wrapped it up nice and proper haha. Honestly this alone could be a main dish, so ordering two mains is fun. (Ordering the bulgogi even comes with bone broth ㅠㅠ too bad I was too full to finish it all,,)

Main 2: beef tripe soup, 12,000 won — stir in the garlic
For the beef tripe soup at ₩12,000, the owner's tip was to always mix in garlic 🧄. Once I actually added it, the flavor really doubled ✌🏻. Don't skip it — always add it in.
Stir the seasoning well into the broth and you get a spicy, delicious beef tripe soup ✨✨
Whoa, so much tripe and so many bean sprouts ~ Is beef tripe soup usually this generous?

I guess that's how it goes at Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi, the famous Hyeopjae haejangguk spot ??? I hadn't eaten much tripe soup before, but this was so good. I've officially been converted to tripe soup,, meat really is always right.
You have to pour rice in to complete the tripe soup haha, I dumped a whole bowl in; basically full servant mode. That's how you eat it to feel like you really ate haha.

You can also pile the meat neatly onto white rice, or

wrap it up nicely in a lettuce leaf. The vegetables are fresh and the meat is so tasty, it just calls for rice ~ 👨🏻🍳

Is Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi worth it as your first meal in Jeju?
Hyeopjae On Ttukbaegi was my first meal after landing in Jeju, and it was so delicious and filling that,, I basically skipped dinner haha. Starting off strong meant the whole Jeju trip went smoothly? 😋✨✌🏻
