In short
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Yeouido is a wood-fired fish grill restaurant on the B1 floor of Lotte Castle Ivy, near Exit 2 of Saetgang Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The writer ordered the boribulbi set (dried yellow croaker, 20,500 won) grilled in a 500℃ oven and used the self-serve bar of tteokbokki, side dishes and sungnyung (scorched-rice water), with free coffee and plum tea after the meal. Today I came looking for a clean, filling meal in Yeouido, and I found it — Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Yeouido (화덕으로간고등어반상 여의도점), where fish is grilled in an oven over 500℃ for a crispy outside and moist inside!
They season everything with salt aged for over 10 years, so it's supposed to be gentle enough for grandparents and kids alike to enjoy without worry. I went in with high expectations. From the spacious, comfortable seating to the generous self-serve bar, everything was on point — here's my honest review!

Inside the restaurant: hall tables and a solo-dining bar
Hwadeogeuro Gan Godeungeo Bansang Yeouido was way bigger and more comfortable than I expected! The tables had plenty of space so dining felt relaxed, and there's a separate bar for solo diners, so I think eating alone here would feel totally comfortable too.
It's a good spot for family visits, but also works fine for a work lunch or a meal with a bigger group. Overall it's clean and easygoing, and I felt comfortable the whole time I was eating :)

Every table was neatly set with tissues and paper cups already in place, so the whole place felt tidy and put together even before the food arrived!

The self-serve bar was really well stocked too! From tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes) to various side dishes, scorched-rice water, and rice, there was so much to eat and it made the meal really filling~!!

How did the wood-fired dried croaker set taste?
I tried the wood-fired dried croaker set (₩20,500) this time! Since it's grilled in a 500℃ oven, the outside came out perfectly crispy and the inside stayed moist — it was seriously delicious!!!!!!
The salty, savory flavor unique to dried croaker went really well with the rice~~ Being oven-fired also kept the fish's clean, mild flavor intact, and my bowl of rice disappeared in no time haha

The dried croaker was grilled to a nice golden brown, crispy outside and moist inside just from looking at it, and it came with rice and a variety of side dishes, so it felt like a real proper meal!! It was great with green tea water too, and all the side dishes were tasty, so I ate really well and felt full~(drooling, want to eat it again..)

Free coffee and plum tea after lunch
After eating a full, hearty meal, they also had coffee and plum tea ready for dessert, so I could wrap things up neatly! It was nice to be able to enjoy a light drink after the meal — it felt like a thoughtfully complete setup 😊
