Walking to Jojo Yeonnam Branch: the storefront and was there a wait?

Jojo Yeonnam Branch is in Yeonnam-dong, right out of Hongik University Station Exit 3.

There were waiting chairs set up in front of Jojo Yeonnam Branch — apparently the Seongsu and Yongsan branches are already famous for long waits — but visiting on a weekday late evening, we got in with no wait at all. I'd still recommend reserving ahead if you're going on a weekend.

Turns out the owner of Jojo Yeonnam Branch appeared as the teppan captain on Culinary Class Wars 2. I watched that show and loved it, so I was already excited before we even walked in 🫢🫢

The inside of Jojo Yeonnam Branch has a wood-toned interior. Every table has its own teppan built in, so no matter where you sit, your food stays warm till the last bite.

We visited as a pair and were seated at a window table.

Jojo Yeonnam Branch was running a Naver receipt review event at the time — leave a review and you get a Japanese oolong tea, so definitely take part if you visit.

Mayonnaise, fire sauce, and Jojo's special sauce were already set out on the table, so we could just dig in without asking for anything.

What we ordered at Jojo Yeonnam Branch was the Signature Set for Two at ₩39,000, which comes with Jojo okonomiyaki, spicy yakisoba, and donpeiyaki together. They laid each dish onto the teppan one by one right in front of us.

Donpeiyaki (egg-wrapped pork) at Jojo Yeonnam Branch

Donpeiyaki is a Japanese-style rolled omelet loaded with pork belly and cheese.

Spicy yakisoba (stir-fried noodles) at Jojo Yeonnam Branch

The spicy yakisoba is made with Jojo's own special sauce, in a Japanese-style spicy flavor. It's not very spicy, so eating it alongside the fire sauce while working through the other dishes kept it from getting repetitive — it was a dish I happily slurped down.

Jojo okonomiyaki and the nickname flag

Jojo okonomiyaki is Jojo's own signature version, loaded with pork, beef, shrimp, and squid.

It came out with the little flag bearing the nickname I'd written down earlier, which made it feel like my own personal okonomiyaki — somehow that made it taste even better 🥹🥹 I recommend Jojo Yeonnam Branch, a Hongdae monjayaki spot.
