Gangneung café for yuja financier with dipping sauce: Coffee Dripper
In short
Coffee Dripper is a roastery and dessert café on Nanseolheon-ro in Chodang-dong, Gangneung, that roasts its own beans. Seated at the garden-view bar table, we ordered one of each: the dripper latte at 6,500 won, coffee ice cream at 7,000 won, Chodang soft tofu pudding at 7,000 won and the yuja (citron) financier at 3,500 won, and dipping the financier deep into the yuja sauce was the favourite combination. When you travel to Gangneung, you've got to see the sea and eat good food, but stopping at a café for coffee and dessert in between is non-negotiable too. This time I went to Coffee Dripper, a Gangneung café recommendation with not just great coffee but a whole range of desserts.
Where is Coffee Dripper in Chodang-dong, and is there parking?
Coffee Dripper is a café where you can enjoy coffee and dessert together, located at 229-4 Nanseolheon-ro, 1st floor, in Chodang-dong, Gangneung. There's a dedicated parking lot right in front of the shop, so if you're driving you can park right there.

There's a dedicated lot right in front of the shop so you can park immediately, and since it's right in front of the store, parking was easy and convenient.

The lush green garden visible outside paired with the ivory-and-wood interior vibe was so pretty~
Inside Coffee Dripper: garden-view bar table and window seats
The inside of Coffee Dripper is almost all floor-to-ceiling glass so sunlight pours in beautifully, and with palm-like trees inside too it had a real overseas vibe. The café is spacious, and I liked that sense of roominess~

The interior is almost all floor-to-ceiling glass so the sunlight streaming in was so pretty, and with palm-like trees it had such an overseas feel that it was even more beautiful!! The café's spaciousness was also a plus~

It's especially a roastery café that makes coffee with its own roasted beans, so it seemed like a great place for coffee lovers to check out 👍

There was also a bar table facing the outdoor garden, and we sat there because we loved the view of the blue sky and green garden 😚

The outdoor table seats looked great too, but the sunlight was unusually strong that day so we ate inside!
What the Coffee Dripper menu offers
Looking at the Coffee Dripper menu, besides the basic coffee items there were distinctive drinks unique to Coffee Dripper. In particular there were desserts worth trying in Gangneung, like a pudding made with Chodang soft tofu, which made this a good pick to feature as a Gangneung café recommendation.

Walking inside, the first thing that caught my eye was the uniquely-shaped baked goods, and since I've been really into yuja or lemon pound-cake-type treats lately, I ordered the yuja financier haha
What we ordered at Coffee Dripper and what it cost
At Coffee Dripper we ordered one each of dripper latte 6,500 won, coffee ice cream 7,000 won, Chodang soft tofu pudding 7,000 won, and yuja financier 3,500 won. Once the menu items all arrived together, with coffee, ice cream, pudding, and financier all on the table, it was fun trying a bit of each~

- Dripper Latte ₩6,500
- Coffee Ice Cream ₩7,000
- Chodang Soft Tofu Pudding ₩7,000
- Yuja Financier ₩3,500
Dripper latte, 6,500 won

The dripper latte is 6,500 won, Coffee Dripper's signature latte with white chocolate and almond cream, so I picked it

The texture and nutty flavor of the almonds on top went really well with the sweetness of the white chocolate, so it was a delicious, sweet latte~
Coffee ice cream, 7,000 won

Coffee ice cream is 7,000 won. It was hot out so I wanted coffee but also something sweet and cool, and this coffee ice cream caught my eye right away haha

The pleasantly cool coffee ice cream was exactly what you'd expect from a well-known coffee ice cream, but it felt even softer and more luxurious, so my spoon kept going back for more haha
Chodang soft tofu pudding, 7,000 won

Chodang soft tofu pudding is 7,000 won. Since we came to Gangneung, you just can't pass up a dessert with 'Chodang' in the name haha. I was curious how a pudding made with Chodang soft tofu would differ from a regular pudding

It had that soft, cloudy pudding texture but genuinely tasted like soft tofu, which paired well with the raspberry sauce — a memorable, unique dessert even though it's tofu!
Yuja financier, 3,500 won: dipping it in the yuja sauce

The yuja financier (citron-flavored French almond cake) is 3,500 won. I ordered it to have alongside coffee, and the combination of financier with yuja gave it a totally different feel from the financiers I usually eat~

That's because they gave us this yuja sauce to drizzle on, and when I dipped it in deep enough to really soak it, the tangy-sweet, soft financier was completely my style, so I genuinely enjoyed it><
Who will like Coffee Dripper in Chodang-dong, Gangneung?

Ordering coffee alongside the Chodang soft tofu pudding and the financier, both worth trying in Gangneung, made for a lineup that was perfect for us dessert lovers. Gangneung has plenty of famous large cafés, but enjoying self-roasted coffee together with a variety of desserts in one space was a different kind of fun! If you're looking for a Gangneung café recommendation where you can have a cup of coffee and enjoy a variety of desserts during your Gangneung trip, give Coffee Dripper in Chodang-dong a try~
