Late dinner at Bapjangin, a Seocho Korean restaurant: kimchi stew
In short
Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch is a Korean home-style restaurant on basement level 1 of the Seoul Express Bus Terminal in Seocho, Seoul, next to the No Brand store, open daily until 10pm. A late dinner after shopping at Shinsegae Gangnam brought sharp, clean kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew, 12,000 won) ordered at spice level 2, smoky bulgogi (14,000 won) with lettuce wraps, and an extra steamed egg (3,000 won). With gim (roasted seaweed) flakes for the rice and solo dining tables, Bapjangin is an easy choice for a home-cooked style meal at the terminal late in the evening.

Yesterday I went to Shinsegae Gangnam but the department store was already closed, and the Pamier Station side was full of Western food only — I was really craving home-style Korean food. So I looked up a Korean restaurant! I want to recommend Bapjangin, a restaurant near Express Bus Terminal Station that's open until 10pm, so you can still get a solid meal late at night. It's affordable and does really good rice and stew.
It's near the No Brand side of the terminal so it's easy to find, and it's a great spot to fill up before catching a bus. Korean food really does sit easier and digest better. Even eating late last night, I had a satisfying meal with no heaviness at all!

What is on the menu at Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch?
The main menu at Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch is all about stews, bulgogi, and squid stir-fry — the kind of Korean food that's perfect mixed into rice. The moment you see the main menu, doesn't it remind you of mom or grandma's cooking? Delicious stew, bulgogi, squid stir-fry! Dishes that make a bowl of rice disappear in no time. Mix it all together and dinner's done!

Can you eat alone at Bapjangin? Seating and atmosphere
Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch has separate tables for solo diners, so you can eat comfortably without feeling self-conscious, plus regular tables too. The space is bright and really clean. I was starving but the food came out fast! The basic side dishes are bean sprouts, kimchi, and spicy radish salad!

When I ordered bulgogi, lettuce wraps came along with it too. I had no idea you could wrap ssam at the terminal!! Meat and lettuce wraps — irresistible!

How to eat Bapjangin's rice with gim (roasted seaweed) flakes
Here's how to enjoy Bapjangin even more! Sprinkle on tons of gim flakes (dried seaweed flakes). Sprinkle gim flakes over rice, mix it with the stew, and it's so good!! After ordering the jjaglie (thick stew), now I'm curious about doenjang (soybean paste stew) too. Mixing rice with doenjang is delicious too, ㅠㅠ Bapjangin really packs in all the menu items Koreans love.

You could eat the whole bowl with just plain rice and gim flakes! I ate a third of it before the stew even arrived, haha. Tastes like my favorite kind of rice ball!
Kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) 12,000 won at spice level 2
Bapjangin's galgalhan kimchi jjigae (kimchi stew) is ₩12,000 and the spice level is adjustable. It's loaded with domestic pork, well-fermented kimchi, and tofu on top!!!

The spice level is adjustable too. Level 2, about Shin Ramyun spicy, is just right. Even for someone who can't handle spice well, it's still tasty. It's like eating my mom's kimchi jjigae ㅠㅠ, feels like a proper home-style meal. Mix it with the gim flakes! It's really good.
Smoky bulgogi 14,000 won with an extra steamed egg, 3,000 won
Bapjangin's smoky bulgogi is ₩14,000, and an extra steamed egg is +₩3,000. The meat is super tender, not chewy at all, and wrapped in lettuce it's a total rice thief.

It's got that charred, smoky flavor like it was grilled over an open flame — the gochujang seasoning brings serious umami you can't resist! The combo of the smoky bulgogi and the well-cooked kimchi jjigae — two of my favorite Korean dishes together — is even better.

I also ordered the protein-packed steamed egg. Mixing in the soft, fluffy egg is pure honey flavor. I tried eating it like bibimbap. It's hot, but there's something fun about scraping the egg stuck to the stone pot and blowing on it to cool it down.
When the slightly spicy bulgogi and kimchi jjigae start making your mouth a little hot, soothe it with the steamed egg — blow on it and enjoy! A hearty meal at Bapjangin, a restaurant near Express Bus Terminal Station! A very filling meal. Definitely add the soft steamed egg!

Is Bapjangin worth it for a late dinner at Express Bus Terminal?
Bapjangin Express Bus Terminal Branch is open daily from 10am to 10pm, so you can get a Korean meal even late in the evening. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a place to eat at Express Bus Terminal. It was clean and comfortable, which made it even more satisfying. You know how hard it is to find a clean place to eat, right?!
When you want a hearty meal at Express Bus Terminal, the variety of menu items means you can pick according to your taste, and it's an easy, no-pressure meal option. The stews and meats that pair well with rice — enjoy them even more at Bapjangin!
