Busan BBQ open until 1am with a 3kg challenge: Daepae Maket Daeyeon

That late-night craving for pork belly sizzling on the grill with bean sprouts... You know that feeling when you don't want to rush before closing time, but instead want to spread out the side dishes and eat leisurely?!

So I went somewhere open until 1am where you can eat at your own pace, with a generous self bar of about 30 items to enjoy freely :) Here it is~~~ Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch, a tasty samgyeopsal (pork belly) spot in Daeyeon-dong, Busan that even has a self bar and a play area!

Where is Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon Branch, and where can you park?

This Daeyeon-dong restaurant, Daepae Maket, has great accessibility — just a 1-minute walk from Daeyeon Station Exit 5, and a 3-minute walk from the Motgol Market bus stop.

You also don't have to worry about parking, since using any of the nearby lots — Modeun, Gagahoho, Ashley, or Sin Parking — gets you a 1-hour parking voucher :)

Inside Daepae Maket after 9pm: a table by the meat slicer

Even visiting past 9pm, the place was really busy, but the interior is spacious enough that it never felt cramped.

I wondered what the space to the right of the self bar was for, and it turned out to be where the meat gets sliced fresh on the spot as orders come in — being able to watch that made it feel trustworthy :)

Daepae Maket's kids' zone is a hands-on smart kids' zone

It's not just an ordinary playroom but a hands-on space, so I bet once kids get in there, they won't want to leave :)

Daepae Maket menu, prices and minimum meat order

For meat, the first order starts at 500g, and you can mix in 2-serving increments to make up that 500g. Additional orders start from 200g :)

Daepae Maket's 3kg-in-60-minutes challenge

If you take part in the Naver receipt review event, you get a free naengmyeon (cold noodles, either water- or spicy-style) or a drink, and if you finish 3kg of meat within 60 minutes, you get a ₩300,000 meal voucher plus ₩200,000 in cash. 3kg doesn't sound too bad, right? Haha. They had photos of some people who'd succeeded posted up, so I might just give it a try myself soon, haha.

Free welcome fish cake soup at every table

A welcome fish cake soup (eomuktang) is provided free at every table. It kept simmering hot, and it was so warming and delicious that I didn't need to order any other soup :)

Daepae Maket self bar fee and the honesty scale

There's a self bar fee of ₩1,000 for preschoolers aged 4 to 7, and ₩2,000 for older guests. There were plenty of lettuce wraps and side dishes to grill or pair with your meat, and a very large plate that made it easy to pile everything on at once.

Using one big plate instead of several small ones made it easy to carry back to the table and didn't take up much space either 👍

There was an 'honesty scale' at the self bar where you could weigh your meat! I trusted it as a given, so I didn't actually weigh mine, but if you're curious, it could be fun to try :)

What we ordered at this tasty samgyeopsal spot in Daeyeon-dong, Busan with its self bar and play area was: two servings of thin-cut pork belly and two servings of Jeju pork jowl!

Grilling the pork at the table

They grilled the thin-cut pork belly and pork jowl together for us. The sound and smell of the meat sizzling away was so good, haha. Somehow the meat kept going in like I hadn't eaten in ages, haha.

The table was really spacious, and so was the grill

It was great being able to grill sausage, potato, sundae (Korean blood sausage), rice cake, and kimchi all together without it feeling crowded 👍

Thin-cut snowflake makchang (pork intestine), 6,900 won x2

I was curious about the thin-cut makchang (grilled beef intestines) so I ordered it — it comes sliced thin like the pork belly, along with sauce. It grills up with that distinctive makchang smell, and wow, the smell was really something, haha. It's thin so it cooks fast, but the waiting still felt really long, haha. I barely held out until it was fully cooked and then ate it up happily :)

Cleared the plate again today~♡

Restrooms and the diaper-changing station

I've seen clean, gender-separated restrooms plenty of places, but this is genuinely the first time I've seen one with a diaper-changing station!!! Eating out with a young child isn't easy, but at Daepae Maket it seems like it'd be so easy 👍

Free ice cream for dessert on the way out

Coffee and ice cream are available for dessert. The ice cream is free when you leave, but costs ₩2,000 if you eat it inside, so make sure to enjoy it right on your way out :)

Is Daepae Maket Busan Daeyeon worth a visit?

Here's my review of eating at this tasty samgyeopsal spot in Daeyeon-dong, Busan with its self bar and play area~♡

• Spacious and comfortable, good for family gatherings or group visits
• Unlike a typical playroom, the hands-on smart kids' zone seems like something kids would really love
• Meat is sliced fresh to order with a meat slicer, and you can watch it happen
• Great accessibility, plus 1 hour of free parking at nearby lots
• A 3kg challenge is currently running
