I went to HairOnDeu, a hair salon near Gunja Station, for a lovely autumn-mood perm that also flatters my face shape. The after shot is no joke, right?

HairOnDeu Gunja Station Branch is on the 2nd floor of a building at 576 Cheonho-daero, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. If you're looking for a hair salon near Gunja Station, I'd recommend this one — it's just a 5-minute walk from Exit 5.

Parking is also available, so it's convenient if you're driving. Park at Adelage Officetel, 570 Cheonho-daero, Gwangjin-gu, and bring your parking ticket with you.

Walk straight a little from Exit 5 and you'll see Hi-O Coffee — the salon is on the 2nd floor of that building.

I liked that all the treatment prices are posted outside the salon, so you can check everything before going in.

Inside HairOnDeu Gunja Station Branch: a separate shampoo area

The interior of HairOnDeu Gunja Station Branch had a modern, white-toned feel. Since it's on the 2nd floor, it never felt cramped.

The spacious cut zone was clean too.

The shampoo zone is separated from the cut zone, which gives it a nice private feel. No awkward moments of people walking by while you're lying back — none of that here.

How the layered cut and perm for a round face shape went

The treatment I got at HairOnDeu Gunja Station Branch was a layered cut and perm. My hair had been long and neglected all summer from being tied up, and I wanted a style that would flatter my round face shape.

After consulting with Director Doi, we decided on a layered cut and perm that would softly frame my face line with a lovely, gentle mood.

After the first round of cutting, she did a hair care treatment first, explaining that perming could damage my hair otherwise. She was very thorough, spritzing protein treatment throughout.

She let me know the treatment time in advance, and I was glad that the director herself handled everything from start to finish — no interns involved.

The treatment took quite a while, but she had snacks and tea ready so it was never boring.

Partway through, she tested how the curls were forming — and I was so curious I asked her to take a photo. Here's my hair with curls forming!

During the final heat treatment, she kept checking to make sure it wasn't too hot for me. Director Doi was so kind and meticulous.

A one-on-one styling lesson for anyone hopeless with a curling iron

I'm really bad at hair maintenance, and I don't even know how to use a curling iron (!)

But she kindly and thoroughly walked me through how to style it.

It was basically a one-on-one masterclass — she explained everything so enthusiastically that I ended up filming a ton of videos besides this one. Now I can actually style my own hair!

I don't usually take selfies, but the result was so satisfying that I ended up taking about five hundred million selfies that day.

With the layered cut, she perfected the style while flattering my face shape and keeping the length exactly as I'd requested.

I booked with Director Doi after seeing reviews praising her layered perms and cuts, and in the end I was really satisfied. She handled the entire treatment herself, was kind, and really listened to what I wanted.

There are three designers total, and when I went, all three were handling treatments in person.
