Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch, where you can taste properly made Indian curry

Every time I go see a play in Daehangno, I end up craving something special and filling instead of the usual options — so I stopped by Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch again.

Located near Hyehwa Rotary by Hyehwa Station, it's an Indian restaurant that sits perfectly on the way to the small theater district. The moment I stepped inside, the exotic spice aroma and local-style interior gave me a little travel-day thrill.

Freshly baked, chewy naan dipped generously into deep, flavorful curry — here's my full visit to Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch! 🍛🫓✨

The most popular menu item at Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch is the 2-person set menu. It comes with a wide variety of dishes, so it's popular with couples, families, and groups of two or more. I ordered the set menu too!

Of course you can order à la carte too — there's pasta and fried noodles, plus drinks like beer, whiskey and wine, along with regular soda and lassi, so it was easy to order according to taste.

The 2-person set menu, course by course

Chicken soup served as the first course of the set menu

First up was chicken soup! I'd only ever had corn soup or mushroom soup before, so I wondered what chicken soup would taste like — turns out it was savory and delicious. A perfect starter.

Green salad included in the set menu

Then came a refreshing green salad, and

Triangular fried samosa

the samosa. First time trying one — it felt like a spring roll wrapper with dumpling filling inside?

A samosa is a triangular fried food made with pastry dough filled with potato, peas, meat, and other ingredients - Naver Encyclopedia

So they say.

Lassi, king prawns, and tandoori chicken! I had the strawberry lassi and it tasted exactly like strawberry yogurt — incredibly good. The prawns were plump, and the tandoori chicken was, well, just —

Finally, the butter naan and curry! The naan's shine was unreal;; the curry was chicken tikka masala.

Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch's kitchen is apparently led by an Indian-Nepali chef with over 10 years of experience. Thanks to ingredient selection and cooking methods built on that firsthand experience, the curry tastes even better,,

Table set with curry, rice, and naan together

There are two ways to eat curry — mix it into rice, or tear off naan and dip it in. Personally I prefer naan over rice. Weirdly, though, with Japanese curry I much prefer the rice.

How was it as a pre-theater meal?

Big naan with a hint of butter, rich and mellow curry, and tandoori chicken crisp outside and tender inside — the whole combination was satisfying at Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch. The spices weren't overwhelming and were well balanced for Korean palates, so I could finish every last bite without getting tired of it.

The restaurant is spacious and calm, making it a great place for an unhurried meal before showtime! If you're looking for a reliable date course before watching a play in Hyehwa, Daehangno, or want to try properly made, authentic local-style Indian curry, I highly recommend Meono Kkameona Daehangno Branch!
