Junggye-dong Korean BBQ with 1,500-won baekseju: Junggye Gogi Party

In short

Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch is a charcoal beef and pork Korean BBQ restaurant on Junggye-ro 12-gil in Nowon-gu, Seoul. On a weekend evening with her boyfriend and younger sibling, the writer ordered the premium beef set (sirloin, chuck flap, short rib meat), a 1,500-won glass of baekseju, Iberico pork collar, steamed egg for 6,000 won and mul naengmyeon for 6,000 won. The weekday unlimited makgeolli was not on offer, but the homemade sikhye plus four salts and three sauces made Junggye Gogi Party an easy choice for a family meal.

Beef grilling over charcoal at Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch, main photo

I went out for meat again, this time with my boyfriend and my sibling, to fuel up my sibling who's been studying so hard! The quality of both the beef and pork was pretty impressive, and on top of that, you can enjoy unlimited makgeolli on weekdays, or baekseju and red wine at great prices on weekends, plus sikhye (sweet rice punch) to cleanse your palate at the end. The whole package was so~~ solid, ugh.

You can eat proper meat and enjoy drinks without breaking the bank, so I thought it'd be a great spot for family dinners or gatherings too! Today I'm introducing the Nowon restaurant I visited — "Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch"!

Where is Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch, and what are the hours?

  • 6 Junggye-ro 12-gil, Nowon-gu, Seoul, South Korea — Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch

  • Daily 11:30–22:00 (break time 15:00–16:30)

Ordering at the kiosk: what's on the menu

At Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch you order through a kiosk, and the instructions are right there on the first screen, so just read through and go for it! There are also a bunch of coupon events running — is it really okay for them to give out this much..? Coupons can't be combined, so just pick what you want and call a staff member over.

There was even a QR code for customer feedback — that's such a neat touch haha.

There are plenty of set menus, from marinated beef sets to premium beef sets and Iberico sets, covering both beef and pork, so ordering a set is more cost-effective than going a la carte!

List of a la carte meat cuts on the kiosk

There's also a wide range of individual cuts — flower chuck flap, sirloin, Iberico pork collar, pork jowl, pork skin, beef brisket, and more — perfect for adding on after finishing a set!

There's also doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and doenjang sulbap (rice with soybean paste sauce) and steamed egg that go great with meat, plus Iberico sausage and whole grilled mushrooms that are perfect for grilling alongside.

They even have a lunch special — beef gukbap, yukgaejang, gopchang soup, doenjang jjigae — all sold at really affordable prices, so people working nearby could definitely swing by for a light lunch haha.

I went with the premium beef set! It comes with sirloin, chuck flap, and short rib meat. You can enjoy a glass of red wine for ₩3,000 or baekjjaebagi for ₩1,500 — after some deliberation, I went with baekjjaebagi haha.

Inside Junggye Gogi Party: is there group seating?

I got off the bus and arrived at this Junggye-dong restaurant in no time!! I spotted a cute pig waving its arm from far away. So charming.

The lunch special is ₩14,900 per person for a charcoal-grilled marinated pork collar steak (200g) plus your choice of beef doenjang stew, Pyongyang naengmyeon, or steamed egg! Absolute crazy value...

Classic old-school restaurant vibes. They even give out yogurt and instant coffee mix.

The inside is bigger and cleaner than I expected. There's group seating too, so it's great for company dinners or family gatherings!

The self-service bar has lettuce, perilla leaves, bean sprouts with green onion, garlic, ssamjang, cheongyang chili, pickled radish, pickled cabbage, kimchi, and perilla leaf sauce. Isn't this basically every meat thief's dream lineup?

On the left is makgeolli, on the right is sikhye! If I'd come on a weekday I could've had the makgeolli unlimited... but of course I came on a weekend~~ Still, the homemade sikhye was really delicious.

Premium beef set with four salts and three sauces

Table setting with four types of salt and basic side dishes

The basics include Himalayan salt, curry salt, perilla leaf salt, and pepper! I've never seen such a variety of salts before.

The basic side dishes were pickled radish, salad, wild garlic leaves, pickled onion and cabbage, garlic, ssamjang, bean sprouts with green onion, and whole mushrooms.

The most surprising part! They also serve whole grain mustard, mushroom wasabi, and a set of three wasabi types. This is truly the ideal spot to enjoy meat properly... it's not a Nowon-gu meat restaurant favorite for nothing.

Salt and sauces portioned onto a side plate

On the little side plates they gave us, I sprinkled perilla salt, curry salt, and Himalayan salt, and set aside some whole grain mustard, mushroom wasabi, and wasabi too — full preparations underway for eating meat...

A glass of baekseju poured

Baekseju by the glass on a weekend: my first taste

Before the meat came out, they brought baekseju and I tried it — oh my goodness, how can it taste this good?!!! I mean, it was literally my first time drinking baekseju in my life. It's insanely good..... Clean and crisp, perfect to pair with beef.

Meanwhile the beef arrived! The color alone is no joke... sirloin, chuck flap, and even the "emperor's" short rib meat — I could tell without even tasting it. I could just feel the deliciousness radiating off it.

Right away, they placed a piece on the grill for us.

Beef and whole mushroom placed on the charcoal grill
A piece of beef grilled to medium doneness

You've got to grill the whole mushroom uncut too, so the juices stay locked in and it tastes great when you tear it along the grain afterward. We grilled the beef to medium, just how we like it, haha.

At first I tried it dipped in just Himalayan salt, and because the meat itself was so good, even just salt alone was delicious, ugh. The mushroom was so full of juice, so good, ugh.

Steamed egg for 6,000 won

You can't skip steamed egg (₩6,000) as a side at a BBQ place. I love this kind of fluffy, souffle-like steamed egg so much... how is even the steamed egg delicious here?

They kept diligently grilling the rest of the meat for us. Maybe because they use good charcoal, the way it grills is clearly different.

The thick short rib meat... tender but packed with beefy aroma, one bite in and I couldn't not drink more baekseju. I used the magical automatic pepper grinder to sprinkle some on before taking a bite.

Try one bite with whole grain mustard sauce + garlic + cheongyang chili + meat all together. I guarantee the flavor.

Adding Iberico pork collar to the grill

My sibling, who's in the middle of a growth spurt, was eating so well that we ordered Iberico pork collar too.

Even before grilling, the color on the grill shows off the status of this Junggye-dong restaurant favorite...

After grilling it back and forth over the charcoal, one bite in — it was so tender and delicious, ugh. Is it even allowed for sirloin-style pork to be this soft..? It really melts in your mouth.

Lemonade ordered alongside the meat

Lemonade for my teenage sibling and 6,000-won mul naengmyeon to finish

While we were drinking baekseju, my sibling, still in high school, ordered lemonade. Why is a BBQ place also good for lemonade?! There's also Eunhaeng Sageori nearby, so if you're coming with middle or high schoolers, definitely order them a lemonade haha.

Mul naengmyeon topped with garnishes for dessert

To cleanse our palates at the end, we ordered mul naengmyeon (₩6,000). It came piled high with cucumber, meat, and egg garnish, and I was honestly surprised — is this dessert-naengmyeon level quality? The noodles were chewy with plenty of umami, the perfect palate cleanser! We ended up drinking a ton of soju with the finishing naengmyeon too haha.

Is Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch good for a family gathering?

From the meat to the sides to all the extras provided, we ate a ton. Both beef and pork came in plenty of varieties, and above all the meat quality was solid enough that any menu item felt like a good choice!!

On top of that, unlimited makgeolli on weekdays and good-value baekseju and red wine on weekends were great perks, and with sikhye, lemonade, and naengmyeon all available, it seemed like a solid spot for family dinners, friend gatherings, or company dinners!

Junggye Gogi Party Nowon Branch, a Junggye-dong meat restaurant favorite! Great value while still getting to enjoy both beef and pork deliciously — I'm planning to come back with my family next time haha. If you've been looking for a good Nowon-gu or Junggye-dong meat restaurant, I highly recommend this place to fill up on delicious meat.
