Jeju BBQ restaurant for two: brisket and black pork at Dolgyeok Hanwoo

In short

Dolgyeok Hanwoo is a hanwoo (Korean beef) and Jeju black pork grill restaurant in Yeondong, Jeju City, about 10 minutes by car from Jeju Airport. Two diners ordered one portion each of chadolbagi (thin-sliced beef brisket) at 22,000 won, hanwoo special cuts at 32,000 won and cubed black pork collar at 22,000 won, grilled them in that order, and emptied two bowls of the free-refill miyeokguk (seaweed soup). Dolgyeok Hanwoo is a good choice when you want hanwoo and Jeju black pork in one sitting.

Let me introduce a place I genuinely ate really well at on this Jeju trip 🤍 You always end up eating black pork at least once when you visit Jeju, and this time I wanted hanwoo (Korean beef) too, so after some searching I went to Dolgyeok Hanwoo, a well-known spot in Yeondong, Jeju.

To cut to the conclusion — everything we ordered here was just good! There were two of us and we tried a bunch of things, and every single cut of meat satisfied us, so I wanted to recommend this to anyone looking for a place to eat meat in Jeju.

Where Dolgyeok Hanwoo is and where to park — 10 minutes from Jeju Airport

Dolgyeok Hanwoo is at 12 Yeondong 11-gil, 1st floor, Jeju-si, Jeju-do, about 10 minutes by car from Jeju Airport. There's parking for about 4–5 cars right in front of the restaurant.

Since it's in Yeondong, close to Jeju Airport, it's also a good stop on your first or last day of the trip.

What two people ordered at Dolgyeok Hanwoo and what it cost

There were two of us that day, and since we wanted to try a bit of everything, we split up the menu.

  • Brisket (chadolbagi), 1 portion, ₩22,000
  • Hanwoo special cuts, 1 portion, ₩32,000
  • Cubed black pork collar, 1 portion, ₩22,000

We picked three different types to share, and as a result there wasn't a single miss haha. I was especially looking forward to the hanwoo special cuts, and yep — hanwoo is hanwoo 🥹

Dolgyeok Hanwoo also serves up a solid spread of side dishes for a Yeondong spot!

Dipping sauces served with the meat

Mixing the two sauces at the bottom together for dipping was really tasty.

And something I quietly loved about Dolgyeok Hanwoo — the miyeokguk (seaweed soup) is a free refill! When you're eating a lot of meat, you sometimes just want a warm bowl of soup, right?

It was so good we ended up having two whole bowls haha. Taking a spoonful of miyeokguk between bites of meat cut through the richness, and it was packed with meat too, so it made me happy.

Chadolbagi first — the right cut to start with

We started off light by grilling the brisket (chadolbagi) first. Since it's thinly sliced, it cooks the moment it hits the grill, and the savory fat aroma rose right up, really waking up our appetite.

If you like thinly sliced meat, brisket is impossible to resist haha. It wasn't chewy or dry at all, was nicely savory, and made a great opening cut before moving on to the other meats.

Hanwoo special cuts — tosisal, anchangsal and chimasal

And then the one I was most looking forward to that day — the hanwoo special cuts. Dolgyeok Hanwoo sells these special cuts on a limited basis, and they're labeled top-grade 1++ hanwoo.

It was a mix of tosisal, anchangsal, and chimasal (three different hanger and skirt cuts). Even in photos the color and marbling looked great, and it was even better grilled up in person.

One bite and you really get that beefy aroma — tender, but with a savory flavor that builds the more you chew! If you're a fan of special cuts, I'd say it's worth ordering.

Cubed black pork collar — the surprise of the meal

And the one that was surprisingly really delicious was the cubed black pork collar. Since it's cut into cubes, it feels different from regular pork collar, and grilling the surface until golden brown really concentrated the flavor of the meat itself.

The fat-to-lean ratio was good too, and eating hanwoo followed by black pork gave us two totally different kinds of charm.

A friendly staff member also showed us a great sauce combo to try!

I always feel like you have to eat black pork once you're in Jeju, and here we got to order it alongside hanwoo, so we enjoyed both at once, which was great haha.

We ate in the order of brisket → hanwoo special cuts → cubed black pork collar, and honestly everything we ordered that day was delicious, so much so that I thought, this place would probably be good no matter what you order???

The hanwoo special cuts especially would satisfy anyone who's a real meat lover, and the cubed black pork collar was also a great fit for a Jeju black pork dish. Above all, being in Yeondong not far from Jeju Airport is another plus — it's a convenient spot to stop by whenever you're craving good meat during a Jeju trip!

Homemade carrot juice served at the end of the meal

To finish, the friendly staff gave us a homemade carrot juice as a send-off~~ Such a refreshing finish!

If you're deciding on a meat spot during your Jeju trip, I'd recommend ordering hanwoo and black pork together at Dolgyeok Hanwoo 🤍 A good reference for anyone hunting for a great meat restaurant in Jeju!
