Geumcheon Korean restaurant, braised pollock pot rice: Gim Myeongtae
In short
Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs Gasan Branch is a Korean restaurant in Geumcheon, Seoul. The two-serving braised pollock with siregi and freshly cooked pot rice was generous, with tender-chewy fish and a sweet-spicy sauce. A filling stop before outlet shopping in Gasan.

A great restaurant near Gasan Digital Complex: Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs.

Braised pollock with siregi near Gasan Digital Complex
I visited Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs, a popular spot near Gasan Digital Complex. The braised pollock with siregi (dried radish greens) was an absolute rice-stealer: chewy yet moist fish soaked in a rich, sweet-spicy sauce.
Affordable, generous, and delicious—the three essentials were all there at this great-value Gasan-dong restaurant!
Hours are 10:00–22:30. They are open for quite a long time and have no separate break time, so it is easy to visit whenever.
A restaurant close to Gasan outlets
I stopped by Gim Myeongtae Spicy Braised Short Ribs because having a meal before heading to Hyundai Premium Outlet Gasan for shopping seemed like the perfect route. Hyundai Outlet, Mario Outlet, and W-Mall are all close enough to reach on foot, so the location is wonderfully convenient.
When I got there, I found the restaurant surrounded by apartment complexes 🤔 In my experience, restaurants surrounded by apartment complexes are very often the real deal. It is a well-known Gasan restaurant that has even appeared on Live Today 🙌

The dining room was quite spacious, with tables packed closely together—it felt like office workers and shoppers must pour in during the lunchtime rush. There is also a semi-private hall, and reservations for group gatherings of 10–20 people are available!
From braised pollock to braised short ribs
Right! Let’s quickly scan the menu. Signature dishes include spicy braised pollock, braised pollock with siregi, spicy braised cuttlefish, braised cuttlefish with siregi, boiled cuttlefish, and cockle salad noodles.

- Bean sprout braised short ribs: Small ₩35,000 / Medium ₩49,000 / Large ₩62,000
- Siregi braised short ribs, cuttlefish braised short ribs, and cheese braised short ribs: Small ₩38,000 / Medium ₩52,000 / Large ₩65,000
The braised short-rib menu has an even bigger lineup than the braised pollock menu 🤩 I have been eating a lot of meat lately, so I chose the pollock this time, but I vowed to come back next time specifically for the braised short ribs!
There were also so many seasonal dishes to enjoy at this Gasan restaurant, including oyster gukbap (rice soup), oyster nutrition pot rice, fresh oysters, cod noodles, dried pollock hangover soup, earthenware-pot spicy braised short ribs, seaweed and cockle bibimbap, pork cutlet, and more.
Also, before 15:00, regardless of whether it is a weekday or weekend, they serve pot rice for ₩2,000 per person as a lunch-special benefit, so visiting for lunch is a good deal.
Basic side dishes and self-service station
The basic spread included roasted seaweed, bean sprouts, corn salad, pickled onions, stir-fried fish cake, and bean sprout soup—great alongside the braised pollock. You can bring over any extra side dishes you need from the self-service station.

I ordered cider as a fizzy drink, and without even asking, they thoughtfully served it in a beer glass filled with ice!!

Generous braised pollock with siregi and pot rice
At last, the main dish—braised pollock with siregi—arrived. I did not expect a huge portion since I ordered two servings, but wow, it was incredibly generous.

Then the freshly cooked pot rice was set down too, making the table feel even more abundant! One pot holds two portions, so you can divide it into individual bowls and share. The grains were pleasantly sticky yet fluffy—exactly the texture I love most!

Braised pollock can sometimes be overly tough at other places, so it can be hit-or-miss, but here it was moist and soft inside while also chewy—a dish with lots of enjoyable textures.

The sauce is so important for braised pollock, and this place uses a thick, sweet-spicy sauce much like tteokbokki sauce. They even included tteokbokki rice cakes, so it was delicious without adding anything extra! Since I ordered the version with siregi, I could enjoy the soft, non-tough greens wrapped with the fish in roasted seaweed like ssam (a wrap).

For the true finishing touch, you have to enjoy the rice left in the pot like nurungji (scorched rice), right? It is also good topped with leftover pollock flesh, almost like borigulbi. Next time, I should come back for the braised short ribs. Thanks for the delicious meal :)
