After a hearty lunch, my husband and I went looking for a quiet spot to relax over coffee. Through a great opportunity, I was selected for a sponsored visit to Ieo Coffee Roasters Gongdeok Branch near Daeheung Station, a café I'd had my eye on for a while.

A cozy exterior tucked into an alley

Set on the ground floor of a red brick building, the café had a warm, inviting mood all its own. Cute green potted plants lined the front alongside a calm, understated sign, making me stop for a moment as I passed by. The interior visible through the glass windows looked so peaceful that I was already excited before even stepping inside.

Stepping inside, the bright wood-tone counter paired with white walls gave a clean impression. Tables were spaced comfortably apart, not cramped, and posters and cute little props scattered around brought the space to life. Since the café also welcomes pets, there was a relaxed, gentle energy throughout.

A menu and beans chosen to your taste

Display of baked-good desserts

The menu board, neatly organized from coffee to non-coffee drinks, caught my eye right away. True to its identity as a Daeheung Station roastery café, one of its biggest perks is that you can choose your own beans to match your taste. Inside the display case, a beautifully baked Basque cheesecake and an array of baked-good desserts sat lined up, catching my attention.

Two cups of coffee to enjoy while cooling off

Tray with an Americano and a latte

The Americano came in a clear glass, and the latte stood out with its smooth milk layer. The thin, fine crema on top showed off just how fresh the beans were. Everything arrived neatly on a tray, and the care put into presentation really impressed me.

Clean, pure bean flavor: the Americano

The Americano had absolutely no bitterness or heaviness, going down smooth and refreshing. Behind a moderate body, a subtle aroma rose up, filling my mouth with a pleasant cleanness. It was the perfect, refreshing cup of coffee to have after lunch.

Nutty and smooth: the almond latte

The almond latte blended slightly bitter espresso with milk into a soft gradient. The first sip had no milky off-flavor, just a nutty, rich flavor that wrapped around my mouth. It wasn't overly sweet, and the deep coffee flavor still came through, making it lovely to sip slowly.

Moist, dense Basque cheesecake

Cross-section of Basque cheesecake lifted by fork

The Basque cheesecake came with a nicely charred top and a soft cream on the side. When I lifted a bite with my fork, the dense cross-section revealed a creamy texture that melted away instantly — I couldn't help but let out a little sigh of admiration. The rich cheese flavor paired with the soft cream made for a fantastic match with the coffee.

A tray licked clean

Tray with emptied cups and plate

While taking our time before diving in, before we knew it, the plate and cups were completely emptied. The balance between the coffee's flavor and the sweetness of the dessert was so good that my husband and I finished everything without leaving a bite. The finish stayed clean all the way to the last sip, never once feeling too much — that really left an impression.

Enjoying quality coffee and dessert together in such a quiet, atmospheric space made for a wonderful afternoon with my husband after a long while. If you're looking for a Daeheung Station café where you can truly taste well-roasted beans, I think it's worth stopping by with an easy mind. It feels like the kind of place I'll naturally end up returning to whenever I take a walk around Daeheung-dong.
