Mangwon café near the market for Kyoto matcha latte and iced
In short
PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch is a latte and dessert café tucked below street level in a brick building near Mangwon Market in Mapo, Seoul. On a weekend afternoon with no waiting, the writer ordered a Kyoto matcha latte made with Uji matcha and a sour-toned iced Americano in a bright, wood-toned space lit by a large window. The matcha's deep, slightly bitter flavor made it a menu item worth ordering again.

A latte spot near Mangwon Market: PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch
I stopped by PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch, a latte spot I really want to recommend for Mangwon-dong. I was in Mangwon-dong over the weekend, and since it's right near Mangwon Market, it's easy to get to — plus it's a latte and dessert spot, which makes me want to recommend this Mangwon café even more.

PICT Roastery Mangwon Branch stood out even from a distance thanks to its brick building. These days the temperature swings a lot between morning and night — cool mornings and evenings but strong midday sun that makes it hot — so I was looking for a café with powerful AC, and the moment I saw the words 'powerful cooling,' I was pulled right in.

Once you spot the building, you go down a staircase and the café is right there. I actually got confused and started heading up to the second floor first, then naturally turned back around... haha.

There's a magnifying mirror out front, so my partner and I snapped a photo before going in. I have a habit of never walking past a mirror without stopping, ha.
A clean, atmospheric interior at PICT Roastery

Since you head down a staircase to get in, I thought the café might be pretty dark, but there's a big window up front that lets in plenty of light, and the wood-toned tables and chairs gave it a warm feel.

The window seats were full of people enjoying some solo café time. The atmosphere was cozy and pretty enough that I think I'll come back whenever I'm in Mangwon-dong. I visited on a weekend afternoon and got in with no wait — and after reading reviews praising the lattes and desserts, I went specifically for a matcha latte.

This is roughly the overall vibe inside — there are window seats and two-person tables, and if you come with four or more people, you could probably just push tables together. Taking it easy in Mangwon-dong on a weekend afternoon, stepping away from real life for a while, made for a genuinely happy day.

You can choose between sour-toned beans or nutty beans. I'd gone to eat around Mangwon Market and wanted something to cleanse my palate, so I stopped at this Mangwon café for an Americano — and it ended up exceeding my expectations by a lot.
PICT Roastery's menu board and takeout discount

At this Mangwon-dong café, PICT, takeout gets you a ₩1,000 discount, and the menu is simple but everything looked good enough that I'm already planning to come back soon. After some deliberation I ordered one iced Americano and one Kyoto matcha latte.

The coffee and latte didn't take long to come out. Staff brought them right to the table, which was convenient, and seeing a matcha latte after a while made me want to drink it right away. I like my iced Americano rich with a bit of sourness, and this was exactly my style.

After browsing Mangwon Market, it was nice to sit and relax in this quiet alley. Mangwon Market is always so crowded that walking around drains me, and this is exactly the kind of place to recover when that happens.

Having just eaten lunch, I was craving a cool iced Americano, and it hit exactly my style — I really enjoyed it. After the coffee, I found myself thinking I want to come back soon to try the desserts too. From what I read in reviews, this place is known for its matcha cake, so it seems like a café that's serious about matcha.
The taste of the Kyoto matcha latte, made with Uji matcha

The Kyoto matcha latte looked so pretty that I photographed it before taking a sip. Made with Kyoto Uji matcha, it had a deep matcha flavor and that distinctive bitter edge in full force — this is a menu item I'd order again on a repeat visit.

If you're looking for a good-atmosphere café to try in Mangwon-dong, I'd recommend PICT Roastery without hesitation. The coffee and latte were both delicious enough that I want to come back — and now that I know it's known for desserts, I'll order cake alongside my drink next time.

I finished the matcha latte completely, but had a little of the iced Americano left, so I asked to take it out. PICT Roastery — a quiet, healing spot in Mangwon-dong. I'd 100% recommend a visit, and I'd 100% visit again.
