Jamsil sandwich shop for a light dinner: Town Sandwich

In short

Town Sandwich Jamsil Branch is a sandwich shop a five-minute walk from Jamsil Station in Songpa, Seoul. I ordered a plain jambon-beurre, the Town Sandwich, and dip-in sweet pumpkin soup for dinner; the crisp, chewy bread made it light yet filling. Verdict: a good pick for a simple solo or two-person dinner in Jamsil.

Lately, after work, I’ve been looking for dinners that aren’t too heavy but still feel reasonably filling. While wondering what to eat that day, I ended up at Town Sandwich Jamsil Branch! Since it’s a brunch spot, it wasn’t very busy in the evening, which actually suited the day perfectly—I wanted a neat, simple meal haha.

It’s a five-minute walk from Jamsil Station, and it is open daily from 09:00 to 20:00.

The shop has an overall clean, casual feel. Maybe because it specializes in sandwiches, it felt easy to pop in for a light meal. I think it would also be a nice option for anyone with plans around Jamsil or looking for a quick lunch spot.

The seating is mainly set up for one or two people. So rather than a place for a large group, it felt better suited to a quick meal alone or a light bite with one other person. There are dedicated solo seats too, so it looked especially comfortable for dining alone.

Varied sandwich menu selection

There was quite a varied sandwich selection, including the Town Sandwich, jambon-beurre, truffle jambon-beurre, basil jambon-beurre, grilled chicken bánh mì, Cajun chicken curry sandwich, and baguette egg soboro mayo! Beyond sandwiches, there were dip-in sweet pumpkin soup, sweet corn soup, and plenty of drinks such as coffee and ade, so you could choose according to your taste. After some deliberation, I ordered the plain jambon-beurre, Town Sandwich, and dip-in sweet pumpkin soup that day :)

The vegetable-packed Town Sandwich

I started with the Town Sandwich! It’s the signature menu item, as its name suggests, and it was bigger than I expected. I was aiming for a light meal, but one sandwich alone looked like it would be more filling than expected.

A generously sized Town Sandwich

And when you look inside, it is packed with vegetables! The generous fresh vegetables made it feel much fresher overall than a sandwich with just ham or cheese. The sauce was good too—not overly strong or intense, but nicely blended with the ingredients and brought the whole sandwich together.

Town Sandwich generously filled with vegetables

The outside was toasted crisp while the inside was soft and chewy, and the more I chewed, the nuttier it tasted. The fillings were delicious, but the bread itself was so good that the whole sandwich felt even more complete.

A satisfyingly simple plain jambon-beurre

Next was my favorite, jambon-beurre! It definitely had a different appeal from the Town Sandwich. While the Town Sandwich was fresh and abundant with vegetables and sauce, the jambon-beurre let you focus on the combination of jambon (French-style ham), butter, and bread itself. The savory jambon came through alongside the rich, smooth flavor of butter, and the crisp baguette made it easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. The salty jambon and deep, nutty butter went so well together—it was simple, but I kept reaching for more.

Jambon-beurre with ham and butter

There was seriously a lot of ham in it! Personally, if you prefer a simple combination over a sandwich piled high with lots of ingredients, I’d recommend the jambon-beurre!

Sweet pumpkin soup that went well with the sandwiches

Lastly, the dip-in sweet pumpkin soup I ordered alongside everything! I thought sandwiches alone might leave something missing, so I added it, and dipping bread into the warm soup made it a great match with the sandwiches. It had the gentle sweetness distinctive to sweet pumpkin, with a smooth, nutty flavor. It wasn’t aggressively sweet—just easy and comforting to eat. When I dipped the accompanying bread deeply into the soup, the crisp bread soaked it up and became soft and moist, and that combination worked better than I expected. I recommend a sandwich plus sweet pumpkin soup! ✨

A light but filling dinner

Overall, it was a sandwich shop that worked well for a light dinner! The Town Sandwich was packed with vegetables and larger than expected, so it was filling, and above all, the crisp, chewy bread was especially delicious. The jambon-beurre was simple and nutty, while the sweet pumpkin soup was gently sweet and smooth, making it nice alongside a sandwich. I recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere to dine alone in Jamsil or have a light dinner :)
