Today I'm introducing Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui!
Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch

Today I went to Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui!!

You could feel the good-restaurant energy from just outside.
How to get to Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui from Daerim Station, and where to park
Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui Daerim Station Main Branch is a 5-minute walk from Daerim Station. If you're driving, you can use the public or paid parking lots near the restaurant, and I heard they support parking fees for customers who use the public lot, so keep that in mind! :)
Business hours are Monday through Sunday, 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
What's on the menu besides gopchang

There wasn't just gopchang (grilled beef small intestine) — there were also makchang (beef bung), daechang (large intestine), plain gopchang, garlic gopchang and other grilled options, so I actually had a harder time deciding what to order.

If you walk a little from Daerim Station, you'll see Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui right on the main street!!

I found out it was even featured on a TV show called "Came Here to Reward You" — kind of neat (˵• ̀⩊•́˵)
Inside Gimga-ne Gopchang Gui: a big, old-school dining room

The inside had that old-school restaurant feel. It was really spacious, so it felt like exactly the kind of place you'd come to with coworkers or friends after work!

The moment I sat down, what caught my eye was a note explaining how to eat gopchang deliciously, along with a huge menu board :)

Honestly, because of people around me with strong opinions, I'd always wanted to try gopchang but never had the chance… (tmi). So this was actually my first time eating gopchang outside, and I liked that this place had such detailed eating instructions so even a total gopchang novice could enjoy it!
What I ordered was: mixed gopchang ₩25,000, plain gopchang ₩27,000, kimchi fried rice ₩3,000.
Mixed gopchang, plain gopchang and the seonji side dish

The basic side dishes were various sauces plus carrot, chili pepper and garlic. There weren't any unnecessary side dishes — just exactly the right amount of banchan and sauce, which actually felt clean and neat!!

What really surprised me was that they gave us seonji (blood sausage) as a side dish!! 🙄 It was my first time with seonji too, and my friend and I looked at this seemingly advanced-level dish wondering how on earth to eat it… so we dipped it in sesame oil salt sauce, and it wasn't fishy at all — chewy and nutty and so good 🙌🏻😂 We nibbled on it little by little while waiting for the gopchang to arrive :)

I ordered the signature mixed gopchang and plain gopchang, and the fat inside was so plump — the more you chewed, the nuttier it got, and right when it started to feel a bit rich, wrapping it with sauce and chives cut the richness perfectly. Eating it different ways, the gopchang disappeared in no time ✨ We weren't drinking soju with it, which might be part of why we finished so fast haha.

I really loved the potatoes there 🥹 the color's gorgeous, right~??

The great thing about this place is that a staff member grills the gopchang for you! Even someone like me who's bad at grilling gopchang could eat comfortably since they grilled it for us..!
Kimchi fried rice with the leftover gopchang

Fried rice really is the crowning finish for gopchang!! We were super full, but we couldn't skip the fried rice, so we ordered just one to share. The kimchi fried rice had a clean, neat flavor, and it tasted even better piled on top of the leftover gopchang! haha If you're planning to order the kimchi fried rice, I recommend eating it together with leftover gopchang — it gives a richer flavor.
I saw a lot of people there with friends and family, and with the weather being so nice these days, a lot of people were eating out — if you like gopchang, I hope this helps you have a good time ㅎ🙌🏻☺️
