Euljiro soju bar with grape spirit Dureang and rucola pork: Moss

Today's story is about Moss, a traditional liquor bar near Euljiro3-ga station. It was such a genuinely great place that I'm putting my whole heart into this post haha..

Even before going, I'd seen blog reviews saying the taste was great but the atmosphere was insane, so I was super excited going in!

Inside Moss: a bar themed on "moss in the city"

Moss built its space around the theme of moss in the city, and it seems like it started from a wish to give people a place to catch their breath in the middle of busy daily life, a place that fuels tomorrow :D

Being a proper traditional liquor bar, they have a huge range of traditional liquors, plus whiskies, distilled spirits and more — drinkers would go crazy here ^_^

The space itself was just so pretty..!

It wasn't just a traditional liquor bar theme lightly slapped on — the whole atmosphere felt like stepping into a totally different space.

What are Dureang 35% and Sojudaum 45%?

I ordered the grape distilled spirit Dureang 35%, and my boyfriend ordered the rice distilled spirit Sojudaum 45% 500ml!

Dureang 35% is distilled from Geobong grape wine made in the Cheonan area, featuring a subtle Geobong sweetness and a clean finish. Sojudaum 45% recreates the taste of traditional liquors of the past, with a heavy body and subtle fruit and floral notes.

The free starter: Moss's three-namul set

This three-namul set that comes as a basic side dish,, it really hit the spot for me — a total side-dish addict — so much that I genuinely wanted to pack it up and take it home ㅠㅠㅠㅠ So insanely good.. yeolmu kimchi, namul, and pickled cucumber, and honestly if you love kimchi like me you'll go crazy for it

Rucola and boiled pork belly set

The rucola and boiled pork belly set seems to be what most people order! The meat was tender and warm with zero gamey smell and so delicious.. and the rucola paired with it perfectly, no complaints at all!

The owner's cooking skills at Moss are basically absurdly good, so every single dish, every single side dish, was consistently amazing ㅠㅠㅠ And of course it all paired beautifully with the distilled spirits too?

It also went great paired with the two sauces and rucola that came alongside, and eating it with the basic kimchi side dishes made the distilled spirits go down so smoothly

Aglio e olio pasta with seasonal namul

Next up, the aglio e olio and seasonal namul pasta! I'm the type who's obsessed with oil pasta plus obsessed with seasonal greens, so I ordered it without a second thought

The thing is, that garlic..was really really really the highlight. I like aglio e olio but I'm not that big on garlic, so I always avoid it unless it's sliced thin, you know? But this time I had a hard time resisting picking out just the garlic pieces to eat;; (better than a lot of dedicated pasta places)

One more order: gochujang butter seafood stir-fry

We'd originally only ordered the two dishes above, but they were so good our trust in Moss went way up, so we added an extra menu item!

It's a gochujang butter seafood stir-fry, and even I, who's not a butter person, could eat it easily without it feeling greasy! It's slightly spicy too, so it goes really well with the drinks

It's made with their own homemade gochujang butter mixed with shrimp, whelk, and various other seafood and vegetables, and it was so chewy and delicious too 🥺 My boyfriend and I are the type who've basically been everywhere and eaten everything, but this gave us such a fresh, different experience, and I loved that!

Is Moss good for a quiet night with friends or a date?

Besides us as a couple, I noticed groups of guy friends and groups of girl friends coming here often too >.< Especially if you enjoy drinking and your wallet's got room, this is a place you can really lose yourself in ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

Above all, it's not a loud, rowdy vibe — it's a place where you can enjoy a quiet, distinctive atmosphere, and I loved that so much! (Now that I'm older, I've started hating loud places ^_^;;)
