Yunseul, a great spot at Seoul Station’s Grand Central where you can enjoy wholesome shabu-shabu and hot pots with fresh beef and vegetables while looking out over an open view. The delicious dishes came in generously priced sets that everyone, young and old, could enjoy, and the tidy, spotless space and lively, friendly service were impressive too.
Yunseul near Seoul Station: location and parking

Simpeotikus Seoul Station branch, located on the second floor of Grand Central right in front of Exit 4 of Seoul Station.

You can park in the Grand Central garage, with free parking support when using the restaurant.

I loved the high ceilings and open atmosphere inside; even early in the day, it was already full of guests!

There was room for parties of two to four as well as larger groups.
Yunseul menu and the set for two

- Individual set meal: Yunseul set meal, ₩24,000
- Set menus: sets for 2 / 3 / 4 people, ₩59,000–₩119,000
- Side dishes: minari roe pancake / Korean beef yukhoe / beef jeon, ₩13,000–₩25,000
- Hot pots: ox-horn tendon and minari hot pot / spicy mixed seafood hot pot / aroong beef shank and assorted beef jeon hot pot, ₩42,000–₩49,000
We ordered the set for two (₩59,000). We chose clear anchovy broth, minari roe pancake, prime chuck roll, and two gondre juk.
Clear anchovy-broth shabu-shabu

A clean start with Namhae anchovy broth

I chose the clear broth steeped with Namhae anchovies as my shabu-shabu base. It began clear and clean, then the soup deepened beautifully the more vegetables and beef we enjoyed 🍲

Vegetables and prime chuck roll
Yunseul served plenty of vegetables, including assorted mushrooms, bean sprouts, minari, and bok choy.

I chose the prime chuck roll: fresh beef with no off smell, lovely for enjoying simply.

Under the beef was a portion of included kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and the anchovy noodle soup was even tastier with so much minari in it.

At Yunseul, you can choose gondre juk, bulgogi kimchi fried rice, myeongran cucumber rice, or another rice side to finish. But shabu-shabu’s finale has to be juk!! That was how I felt, so I chose gondre juk, and it was much healthier and nuttier than egg porridge ♥

Yunseul’s shabu-shabu sauces included sweet chili, peanut sauce, and chili soy sauce as standard. For me that day, the chili soy sauce was the kick!

They also gave us a tasting portion of spicy dressed beef tendon, with a fun, unusual texture, so that was another enjoyable bite.

The kimchi tasted as if it had just been made—such a rice thief!

My first-ever minari roe pancake
Another Yunseul signature is the minari roe pancake! I had never tried a roe pancake in my life, so I was curious what it would taste like. Its soft, mild flavor paired wonderfully with the fragrant minari; if I had visited in the evening, it would have been a special snack with a light beer.

Yunseul is a place where you can enjoy wholesome, fresh shabu-shabu and other Korean dishes in a tidy, spotless setting. I’m curious about the hot-pot menu, available only in the evening, so this was a Seoul Station Grand Central restaurant I’ll revisit.
