Pot rice restaurant in Sangam, Seoul: eel vs lobster shrimp at Solsot
In short
Solsot Sangam Branch is a sotbap (Korean clay-pot rice) restaurant on basement floor 1 of DDMC, by Digital Media City Station in Mapo, Seoul. The writer ordered one eel pot rice and one of the new lobster shrimp pot rice, plus the set side yurinke (fried chicken in soy-vinegar sauce) and a free shrimp tempura from the photo review event. Pick the eel pot rice for sweet, rich flavor and the lobster shrimp pot rice for seafood and nutty depth.

When I want a hearty yet clean meal in Sangam, this is the pot rice spot I turn to — Solsot Sangam Branch. I'd only ever been to the Yeonnam-dong location, so finding out there's a "Solsot" in Sangam-dong too was such a nice surprise!!

Where is Solsot Sangam Branch? DDMC basement floor 1
Solsot Sangam Branch is on basement floor 1 of DDMC. Open the door and walk straight ahead — Solsot shows up right there!!

Solsot Sangam Branch menu and the 2-person set
I noticed the kiosk at Solsot Sangam Branch has a "2-person set"! For the set's side dish you can choose shrimp tempura or yurinke (crispy chicken with sweet-tangy sauce). This time I ordered eel pot rice and lobster shrimp pot rice. I heard the "lobster shrimp pot rice" was a new menu item, and I was way too curious not to order it,,

Eel pot rice: plump eel with a big tail piece
Ta-da~~~ can you see the plump eel!!!

I tried the "eel pot rice" first. The glossy, generous chunks of eel on top already looked delicious just by sight,, I ordered it because the menu photo showed a hefty-looking eel, and the real thing was just as plump as the picture!!!

The eel tail at Solsot Sangam Branch is seriously huge too..👍👍 this one's basically a whole bite hahaha

Topped with green onion for a bite~~~!! The sweet-savory sauce and the eel's tender texture go so well with the rice! Confirmed Sangam favorite👍
There's plenty of eel piled on so it's great eaten together with the rice, and the finely chopped scallions cut through the richness nicely! If you love eel, you'll be satisfied with the size and the portion!! There's sauce mixed into the rice too, so if you stir it well the seasoning comes out just right!!!!!
Lobster shrimp pot rice: abalone innard sauce with cheese powder
Second up is the "lobster shrimp pot rice." Firm, springy shrimp and seafood toppings tossed with abalone innard sauce!! And on top, a dusting of nutty cheese powder for extra savoriness👍

The shrimp were plump and springy, and with the abalone innard sauce plus cheese, the flavor was insanely good,,

The lobster shrimp pot rice comes with vegetables too — fresh spinach and bok choy! Eating them together kept it from feeling heavy and added a refreshing note, so good haha. And!!! This seasoned laver~~!! Total must-try. It really rounds out the slightly plain spots👍
And of course, the highlight of any pot rice ✨the scorched rice crust🫢
The set side: yurinke (fried chicken in soy-vinegar sauce)
And one of the set menu options, yurinke!! Totally sweet and craveable~~!! I wasn't expecting much but it was so good👍

Photo review freebie at Solsot Sangam: shrimp tempura
This is the review service item, "shrimp tempura." The tartar sauce had diced onion in it too, so it wasn't heavy at all and was really tasty!!

Eel pot rice or lobster shrimp pot rice — which should you order?
The eel pot rice and lobster shrimp pot rice taste distinctly different, so if you're visiting with someone, ordering one of each to share sounds great. Personally, I'd recommend the eel pot rice to those who love rich, sweetish flavors, and the lobster shrimp pot rice to those who love seafood and nutty depth.
"Solsot Sangam Branch" felt like a proper, warm pot rice meal, and it worked well for lunch or as a hearty dinner. If you're looking for a pot rice restaurant in Sangam-dong or hunting for good food in Sangam, it's worth a visit! If you're torn between the eel pot rice and the lobster shrimp pot rice, just go with whichever suits your taste~~!!
It's a great menu for solo dining, works well for office workers wanting a clean lunch, and it's good for a date meal too,,! Next time I want to try the other pot rice dishes.
