Outdoor-seat solo lunch at a Gyodae gimbap restaurant: Halls Gimbap

I went to Gyodae in Seocho-gu, Seoul! It was lunchtime and I wanted something simple like gimbap (seaweed rice roll). Since I was eating alone, I was trying to figure out where to go, and I heard there was a gimbap place that's both good for solo dining and actually delicious in Gyodae, so I went! It's Halls Gimbap Main Branch! Turns out it's a well-known takeout and delivery gimbap spot in Gyodae. Maybe because the weather was so nice, a lot of people seemed to be buying gimbap to take on a picnic? Shall we go together??

Halls Gimbap Main Branch hours and the walk from Gyodae Station

Halls Gimbap is a 5-minute walk from Gyodae Station on subway Lines 2 and 3! The location is great too?? It's near Seocho Gyodae Station but also close to Gangnam Station, so I'd recommend it if you're looking for a good gimbap place around Gangnam too!

I arrived at Halls Gimbap! There were a lot of delivery motorcycles parked out front?? Being a well-known Gyodae snack food spot, and maybe because it's fall and people go on picnics a lot, I think that's why!

Single seats and outdoor tables for eating alone

I came inside the shop! There were tables inside where you could sit and eat, so it seemed like a comfortable place for a meal!

There were also solo seats facing outside — like bar seating? — so if you want to eat alone around Seocho, Gyodae, or Gangnam, you can eat comfortably without any pressure?

There were also outdoor tables, and the landscaping was beautiful, and since the weather was so nice I wanted to eat outside? So that's what I decided to do! Haha. If you're an office worker near Gyodae Station wanting to refresh for a bit and have a filling meal, I'd recommend it!

Takeout, delivery and group orders at Halls Gimbap

It was a well-known delivery gimbap place with delivery riders constantly coming in! There were also a lot of takeout customers! I guess that's probably because the gimbap comes out fast and easy??

There were group orders too? The owner and the staff ladies were making gimbap nonstop!? The ingredients must be super fresh because of that!

It seemed like once the food is ready, you bring it to your table yourself? Basically it's self-service!

There was a wide variety of ramyeon too! Since it's a snack food restaurant, you can't skip instant noodles when you come to a famous Gyodae gimbap spot. Sesame ramyeon, Jin Ramyeon, squid jjamppong, Neoguri, Yeul Ramyeon, shrimp tang, mu-pama, Wang Ttukkeong, buldak bokkeum myeon, Anseong tangmyeon and more — it was fun just picking one~~

There was water too, and overall the shop was clean and pleasant, which I really liked! Being able to eat a good-value meal in Seocho Gyodae feels like a huge plus!

How the spam gimbap, double cheese egg gimbap and Mupama cup ramyeon tasted

Shall we order? There was a wide variety — daepa tuna gimbap, Halls gimbap, wasabi gimbap, spam gimbap, double cheese egg gimbap, dakgangjeong (Korean fried chicken), coffee, iced cup drinks and more? I ordered spam gimbap, double cheese egg gimbap, coffee, and cup noodles!

There was a great variety of drinks too, from sodas to Americano to different teas~~

I picked mu-pama for the noodles! Haha. Isn't the gimbap so pretty?? I loved that the rice was on the lighter side while the inside was packed with vegetables and other ingredients!

The coffee had a great bean aroma too, no bitterness at all, just nutty and delicious — the best!

With the weather so nice, eating gimbap made me want to go straight on a picnic from Seocho Gyodae?? Since the ingredients are made fresh every single day, you can immediately taste that freshness in the gimbap, and I think keeping the seasoning and taste consistent is the biggest strength alongside that freshness!

This is the spam gimbap! Since everything is handmade, even just one roll was so satisfying! Haha. The ingredients were above all incredibly fresh, and the gimbap came out fast too, so it'd be great for office workers around Gyodae who want a quick meal?

This is the egg cheese gimbap! The egg was soft and the cheese was slightly melted — amazing?? Haha. I sadly didn't get to try the dakgangjeong... but after tasting the gimbap, I bet the chicken would've been great too — a bit of a shame. It'd also make a nice snack for kids before hagwon (after-school academy)! Haha.

They also gave gimbap sauce, so I dipped it a little! Fast, easy, and the owner keeps the flavor consistent, which made the whole experience really pleasant! It's hard to find a good gimbap/snack food spot around Seocho Gyodae Gangnam, so I was so happy to find one!! I'll definitely come back next time I go on a picnic!!
