How did we tidy up men’s hair that had grown to an awkward length?

My husband’s hair had grown out to another awkward length and was starting to enter that dreaded in-between stage.. hahaha His sides were puffing out, his fringe was awkwardly long, and overall it just looked a bit untidy! This is the most awkward stage, isn’t it!!? We considered holding out a little longer, but that’s when it only gets messier hahaha So this time, I didn’t put it off and took my husband to Salon de Supullim (살롱 드 수풀림), a hair salon near Seodaemun Station ෆෆ

Salon de Supullim, the Seodaemun Station hair salon, is on the third floor. Apparently it’s a salon my husband’s friends—locals from Ahyeon-dong—go to often? You know how men stick to just one salon once they find one they like. It’s my husband’s friends’ regular spot hahaha

When I walked in, I liked that it felt like a place where you could have your hair done calmly, rather than somewhere overly crowded or hectic.

A cut tailored after listening to the style he wanted

Senior designer Yosep was in charge of my husband’s hair that day. Watching him cut it from the side, I could see how incredibly meticulous he was..!!! It didn’t feel like he was simply cutting it to a certain length; he kept checking the side line and overall shape as he refined it, which made me trust him even from where I was sitting.

Most of all, he was so kind, which I lovedㅠㅠ He chatted comfortably with us and listened carefully to the style my husband wanted before guiding it in a direction that suited him. Even though it was our first visit, it didn’t feel awkward or intimidating at all haha

A down perm for puffed-out sides and a slightly longer drop cut

The services my husband got this time were a down perm + a drop cut! His sides tend to puff out as soon as his hair gets even a little longer, so a down perm is practically essential. And instead of a short drop cut, we went for a slightly longer one!~~~

They also gave him an iced coffee, so he had a refreshing cup!

A drop cut has the charm of a naturally falling line rather than looking overly styled, so I think it suits someone like my husband who prefers neat men’s hair. Yosep was especially meticulous with the cut, so after it was finished, the lines from the side and back looked so clean—I loved it!

Since the product for the down perm is strong, he thoughtfully sprayed on a scalp protectant.

And something else I really loved! When you go to a salon, there’s often a long wait while your hair is being done. Looking only at your phone makes your neck hurt, but they had tablets set up right in front of every seat, so they were perfect to watch like a personal TV haha

We went for a slightly longer drop-cut feel rather than a short drop cut, with a little volume added at the back.

Men really do get a boost from a good haircut... Even after shampooing, senior designer Yosep carefully finished and tidied everything up 💙💙

The cut was truly meticulous, and Yosep was kind too, so my husband could relax throughout the service. Rather than forcing a predetermined style, they could talk through his current hair condition and the look he wanted to tailor it together, which was great.
