I visited The Momento Jeongja Station Branch while looking for a whiskey bar in Jeongja-dong. It had the kind of malt bar atmosphere whiskey lovers should try at least once, and I actually got to taste several different whiskies that day. It seemed like a nice place for drinking quietly alone, or for a Jeongja-dong date, so I wanted to share it.

What Was the Atmosphere Like at This Jeongja-dong Whiskey Bar?

From the moment I walked in, The Momento felt completely different from an ordinary bar. The lighting was softly dim,

and whiskey bottles lined the back of the bar, so I immediately thought, “Ah, this is really a place you come to drink whiskey.” The second floor had a great atmosphere too~

The wooden bar tables on the first floor were lovely too, and it did not feel intimidating to sit down alone for a drink.

That is why it looked like a good choice for anyone seeking a place for a quiet solo drink in Jeongja-dong, and it would also work well as a Jeongja-dong date spot because it is nice for having a quiet conversation.

How Did We Order?

Rather than choosing from a typical menu, The Momento recommends drinks when you tell them what you like. We focused on whiskey that day, and the whiskies we actually drank were Lagavulin 16, Oban 14, Ardbeg Uigeadail, and Arran Sherry Cask. I am not normally a serious whiskey expert, but comparing several glasses like this made the differences in aroma and weight really clear.

What Were the Whiskies Like?

Lagavulin 16

First, Lagavulin 16 felt rich from the aroma alone. Its peat character came through clearly, so it seemed better suited to people who enjoy a fuller whiskey rather than those wanting to start with something light.

Oban 14

Oban 14 felt a little smoother than Lagavulin, and its aroma was not overwhelming, making it nice to sip slowly. Personally, it was an easy whiskey to drink midway through.

Ardbeg Uigeadail

Ardbeg Uigeadail definitely had a strong personality. It was intensely smoky and weighty, the kind of whiskey that leaves a distinct impression after one sip. I thought peat-whiskey fans would find this one quite satisfying.

Arran Sherry Cask

Lastly, Arran Sherry Cask had a charm quite different from the previous whiskies. It had the sweet, rich aroma characteristic of a sherry cask, which made it feel smoother and more generous. I think it would suit people like me who prefer a whiskey with a lovely aroma over one that is too rough.

Was the Vanilla Ice Cream Snack Good Too?

At the end, they also served vanilla ice cream as a palate cleanser. It was not just ordinary ice cream: they lightly infused the vanilla ice cream with a whiskey aroma, and I liked how it connected with the whiskey we were drinking. The cool, smooth ice cream with that subtle whiskey fragrance was easy to enjoy like a sweet dessert snack.

I was quite impressed that this Jeongja-dong whiskey bar paid attention to small details like that, and I think even people who find whiskey difficult could enjoy it comfortably. With Biscoff cookies and chocolate snacks served alongside it too, it was perfect for having something sweet after a drink.

What Complimentary Snacks Were Served?

The complimentary snacks were Lotus Biscoff, assorted crackers, and chocolate. Bouchard chocolate and light snacks came together, making for an easy pairing with whiskey.

Personally, the sweet chocolate was nice to eat between sips of whiskey. Since the drinks were rich, these light snacks actually paired very well.

The Momento: A Great Place to Focus Quietly on Your Drink

I really liked the atmosphere. Among Jeongja-dong whiskey bars, it was a place where you could focus quietly on your drink, and it was fun sitting at the bar, listening to explanations of the whiskey, and drinking it. It is not an especially inexpensive place, but it felt like you were enjoying the atmosphere and experience along with the drinks.

I think it would suit people looking for a malt bar in Jeongja-dong, deciding on a Jeongja-dong date location, or wanting a quiet solo drink in Jeongja-dong. Next time, I would like to get a recommendation for another style of whiskey too.
