I’ve seen a few plays, but this time I went to something a little different from the usual Daehangno theater! It was the adults-only play, “Suspicious PT Shop,” haha. When dating in Hyehwa, just going to restaurants or cafés can feel a little lacking, so I wanted to try something different. That’s how I found this Seoul adults-only date play.

At first I was half curious and half excited—“How intense can an adults-only play possibly be...?” haha. Once I actually saw it, there were lots of moments where the actors communicated closely with the audience, so it was really immersive. One unexpected scene after another had my dopamine going through the roof~~ I went with a friend, and it was such a strong experience that we talked about it for ages afterward! Nine Theater near Hyehwa Station

I watched Suspicious PT Shop at Nine Theater in Daehangno. It is fairly close to Hyehwa Station, so it was easy to get there by public transit. Daehangno has so many theaters that first-time visitors can get lost looking through the side streets, but I checked the location beforehand and found it without difficulty.

It is also a great neighborhood for visiting a Hyehwa restaurant or café before or after the show, so it seemed ideal for couples. We did not just see the play that day—we hung out around Hyehwa and worked the show into our plans. Perfect for a date! If you are looking for an unusual Seoul adults-only theater date rather than a standard movie date, keep this in mind.

Basement waiting area and photo zone

Nine Theater is on basement level 1. There was more to look at than I expected before even entering the theater! There was a waiting area, plus a photo zone and entry box, so I was not bored before the performance began. When I go to a Daehangno play, I enjoy not only the show itself but also this distinctive small-theater atmosphere, haha. Looking around here and there, showtime came up in no time.

How should you choose tickets and seats?

Ticket prices for Suspicious PT Shop can vary by seat, and there may be applicable discounts, so I recommend checking when you book. The actual amount paid can differ according to the booking date or discount conditions, so checking for the date you plan to visit is most accurate! For this kind of show especially, the fun can feel different depending on where you sit. Why? I’ll tell you in a moment, haha.

Nine Theater seats were more comfortable than expected

Honestly, one thing that had been a little disappointing when I saw plays in Daehangno was the seating. Since they are small theaters, the space between seats can be tight or the chairs can be uncomfortable, and my back has hurt when a show ran longㅠㅠ But the chairs at Nine Theater for Suspicious PT Shop were more comfortable than I expected, and the spacing was relatively roomy, which was nice. These details quietly matter when you want to focus on a performance!

So, beyond the play itself, the viewing environment is one reason I would personally recommend it.

We sat in B row, seats 8 and 9. Being close to the stage meant we could see the actors’ expressions and movements right in front of us—such a big plus! Suspicious PT Shop is a show where communication with the audience is quite important, so sitting close made it more immersive. Rather than simply watching the actors perform from afar, there were moments when it felt like I was inside the show with them, haha.

So if you want to participate actively and properly enjoy the performance, I would personally recommend rows A through C. You can experience the special tension(?) and fun of sitting close, haha.

A PT-gym-style stage and the synopsis

Before the show began, the stage was exactly what the title suggested: a space that brought a personal-training gym to mind. There was exercise equipment too, so it really felt like a PT gym! Since the title is Suspicious PT Shop, I became even more curious about what could possibly happen there, haha. Before the show, I waited without spoilers and simply looked around the stage; seeing it up close made the details fun to take in too.

Since this could be a spoiler, I’ll introduce only the broad outline! The story begins when Seonghee, champion of the Musclemania Figure Grand Prix, and skilled trainer Sujin open a new PT gym. Meanwhile, beginner members Hyeokji and Gwanjunsu, who had only done home workouts, come to the gym to learn how to exercise properly.

When the two men and two female trainers meet, unexpected mishaps and cheerful incidents unfold at what seemed like an ordinary PT gym! Knowing just this much before you visit is enough, haha. You can see the rest for yourselves!! If you have been looking for a Seoul adults-only date play with a vibe clearly different from a typical romantic comedy, this is definitely an unusual work in both title and content.

That day’s cast and the adults-only atmosphere

On the day I attended, the cast was Lee Chaedam, Jina, Tammy, and Haeil. Since this was my first time with the adults-only theater genre, before the show I wondered, “How does this even work?” But not long after it began, I was fully focused, haha. Above all, the actors’ performances were incredibly energetic. Each character had a distinct vibe, which made following the story fun.

While watching, there were moments when I thought, “Wait, they go this far?????” hahaha. True to its adults-only label, it has a bold atmosphere and humor for adult audiences, so it may surprise you if you are not used to this genre. I was a little flustered at first, then before I knew it, my friend and I were laughing together, haha.

That said, people who are uncomfortable with sexual themes or explicit expressions may have mixed feelings, so I recommend choosing it with the knowledge that it is an adults-only show for viewers aged 19 and over. On the other hand, if you are looking for something clearly different from a typical Daehangno production, it was an unusual experience.

An interactive performance with the audience

What was especially fun about Suspicious PT Shop was how the show progressed while communicating with the audience. It was definitely different from a play where you quietly sit in the audience and only look at the stage. The actors and audience were so close, and the atmosphere came alive according to audience reactions along the way, so it felt much more vivid. The actors’ expressions were especially easy to see from the front seats, which made it even more immersive, haha.

If you want a work with a lively on-site feeling and participatory elements rather than a quietly observed performance, I think it would suit you well.

An unusual Seoul date with a friend

Honestly, dates can start to feel the same every time, right? Eat, go to a café, watch a movie... Of course that is nice too, but sometimes you want to do something completely different. At times like that, the very genre of a Seoul adults-only date play could make for a special date.

I watched it with a friend too. At first we went in asking each other, “Are we really watching this? hahaha,” but once the show started, we were both completely absorbed. With unexpected scenes and the back-and-forth between actors and audience, it felt like dopamine was popping off everywhere, haha. Afterwards, we had things to talk about, like “Did you see that scene earlier?” so I felt like my friend and I had grown closer.

Post-show photo time too

Do not head straight home when the show ends~~ There is photo time too! After enjoying the performance, there is time to take photos of the cast, as well as an opportunity to take photos together. During the show, I focused on the actors performing right in front of me; being able to leave with photos at the end made it a lovely memory. Especially if you visit on a date, taking photos after the show will probably bring back memories of that day whenever you look at them later, haha.

Why Suspicious PT Shop stayed with me

I have seen plays many times, but the reasons Suspicious PT Shop stayed with me were clear. It was not simply because of the provocative adults-only title: the unique PT-gym setting, the actors’ energy, audience participation, and the on-the-spot feeling of a close stage all came together in a fun way. There are many parts that progress through communication with the audience, so I got the sense that even the same show could have a slightly different atmosphere depending on that day’s audience response!

It is the first thing I would recommend to adult audience members who have already seen plenty of regular plays and want to experience a different genre. I think it would suit couples seeking an unusual Daehangno date, people who enjoy interactive performances between actors and audience, and anyone who wants a vivid, close-up atmosphere from the front rows. It would be fun with friends too! I watched with a friend, and we had so much to talk about after the show, haha.

It was close to Hyehwa Station and easy to reach, and the basement-level waiting area had a photo zone, entry box, and other things to see, so it was fun even before the show. If you are looking for an intense, unusual Seoul adults-only date play instead of a predictable date, it is a performance worth trying at least once! However, it is an adults-only show with mature themes and bold expressions, so I recommend it for people who will not be uncomfortable with that atmosphere.
