With the wedding coming up fast, we were stuck in an endless swamp of picking a spot for the wedding invitation gathering.. This place is close to the station and has plenty of space, and since it's fusion Chinese rather than a typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant, even reading the menu was fun.

There's a private room too, so it was great for talking quietly, and ordering a bunch of dishes to share was fun in itself. If you're still deciding on a spot for your own gathering, definitely get in line here..!

Honestly it's a bit disappointing that parking isn't free, but expecting that in this neighborhood might be asking too much. I'm just grateful you can even drive here 😇

A spacious spot spanning the entire 2nd and 3rd floors

This is a fairly big restaurant that uses the whole 2nd and 3rd floors. There's an overall Asian feel to it, but the vibe is much closer to a dining restaurant than a neighborhood Chinese place.

Since the space is so spacious, it works for dates as well as bigger gatherings like family get-togethers or company dinners. It's reassuring to have one place you can always count on when your headcount is awkward.. and this is that kind of place 🥹

This is the vibe of the private table!!! Really great atmosphere for chatting quietly among ourselves during the wedding gathering.

What we ate — from Tokyo tangsuyuk to snow-topped eohyang donggoja

This isn't the usual jajangmyeon-and-jjamppong-focused Chinese restaurant — it's more of a fusion Chinese place mixing Korean, Chinese and Japanese elements. Flipping through the menu, I kept thinking, is this combination even possible..?

What we ordered that day was Tokyo tangsuyuk (medium), tenpura kimchi fried rice, snow-topped eohyang donggoja (small), mapo omelet rice, and crab fried rice. The Tokyo tangsuyuk was a solid pick for a group to pick at together, and the snow-topped eohyang donggoja had such an intriguing name I couldn't not order it.

The Tokyo tangsuyuk felt a bit lighter than regular Chinese-style sweet and sour pork. Since we'd ordered mostly greasy dishes, it was well balanced.

It was packed generously with filling and everyone loved it. Mixing in dishes like this instead of just ordering the usual stuff makes the table so much more abundant.

Three fried rice dishes, each with its own style

The rice dish options are wide too. Just among the fried rice dishes, the tenpura kimchi fried rice, mapo omelet rice, and crab fried rice each had a distinctly different style, which was great for a group ordering one each and sharing a little of everything.

The omelet rice was super popular too! There were a lot of combinations that felt different from a typical Chinese restaurant's fried rice, so even picking what to order was fun.

Personally, I feel like this is the biggest advantage if you're looking for a Chinese restaurant that's good for a wedding gathering. With a room, you don't have to worry about the next table.

A wedding gathering isn't a place where you just eat and leave — it's a place where the conversation runs long. Constantly lowering your voice while talking wears you out on its own, but that's never an issue in a room. If you're looking for a spot with a room near Sinsa Station, I really hope you check this place out.

It's not just à la carte — as of recently, there are also set courses starting around ₩20,000 per person. You can pick based on the nature of your gathering, so it's really one-stop service. We picked several à la carte dishes we wanted and shared them, but if you have a big group or want to go without stressing over the menu, booking a course looks like a good option too. I'd recommend asking about the course composition when you reserve.

Overall thoughts

To sum up, Samsin Garosu-gil is a place that hits all the boxes needed for a gathering: close to Sinsa Station, a distinctive fusion Chinese menu, spacious interior, and a private room. The lineup, from Tokyo tangsuyuk to tenpura kimchi fried rice to mapo omelet rice, isn't the usual, which made it especially good for a group to go and try a bit of everything.

If I had to pick a downside, it's that there are separate break time and last order times. If you're meeting up late, it's safer to check the timing beforehand. Parking is also paid, so keep that in mind if you're driving.

I'd recommend this to anyone near Sinsa Station looking for a wedding gathering spot or a Chinese restaurant with a room, or anyone who wants something a bit different from a plain Chinese restaurant. Especially if your group is more than six people, definitely put this on your shortlist.
