Korean BBQ dinner for 3 under ₩60,000 in Seocho: Galgol Yeontanjip

In short

Galgol Yeontanjip Seocho Gyodae Branch is a charcoal-grill Korean BBQ restaurant a 5-minute walk from Exits 6 and 7 of Gyodae Station in Seocho, Seoul. On a weekday evening, two servings of pork belly, one serving of premium pork neck, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), two bowls of white rice and a zero-sugar cider came to under ₩60,000, and because meat is sold one serving at a time, pork belly and pork neck could be grilled side by side. With soju, draft beer and makgeolli all at ₩3,900, Galgol Yeontanjip is a strong pick for a Gyodae team dinner or casual get-together.

On a day I had plans with a close younger friend around Gyodae and Seolleung, we had a hearty lunch first, and since she needed some fall clothes, we went shopping together and I helped her pick things out, then caught up over coffee at a nearby café — and before we knew it, evening had settled in!

We were starting to get hungry, so I thought about what to eat, and since my friend is a total meat lover, I looked up a BBQ spot! It turned out Galgol Yeontanjip was nearby in Gyodae, and I remembered enjoying it before, so I decided we'd go there!

The verdict:

  • Amazing meat you can order one serving at a time!
  • A genuinely great spot with endless delicious combinations!

We walked out completely stuffed (guess I can't weigh myself for a while haha). Let me introduce "Galgol Yeontanjip Seocho Gyodae Branch."

They also give lettuce wraps, scallion kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi... ♥ Grilled with the meat, it's absolutely delicious.

Pork belly and premium pork neck served in separate single-serving dishes

Grilling pork belly and premium pork neck one serving at a time

We ordered the meat one serving at a time, so all 3 servings came out in 3 separate dishes! Wow, look at that color...!

Today's the day we crush both pork belly and pork neck!

First, we greased the pan with pork fat~

Then straight into the pork belly!! It comes sprinkled with coarse salt, so you don't need to season it separately — it's delicious grilled and eaten just like that, ugh.

As the pork belly was cooking, we started adding the tender premium pork neck too! As expected of Korean pork, it's so good~

Doenjang jjigae, white rice and an orange slushie to finish

Koreans run on rice! Out came the doenjang jjigae, a perfect combo with rice — savory and deep, it cuts right through the greasiness~

Doenjang jjigae and white rice served together

We dove in and ate like crazy! Why is white rice with meat always this good...

Ah, in the old days I would've just cracked open soju... but Galgol Yeontanjip has non-alcoholic options too, so it's great for soju lovers who need a break.

Finishing with an orange slushie made everything that much more satisfying — we walked out clutching our stuffed bellies haha.

Is Galgol Yeontanjip Seocho Gyodae Branch worth it for a Gyodae dinner or date?

These days there are so many good BBQ places, and some grill the meat for you or serve it already grilled — but honestly, the fun of grilling it yourself can't be beat.

Plus this place uses Korean pork and good charcoal, so it's healthy and tasty!! The meat is affordable and great value, but above all, the drinks are so cheap that it's a fantastic spot near Gyodae for work dinners, group outings, gatherings, or dates over BBQ!!

I'm personally fond of the Galgol Yeontanjip chain...♥ My friend said this place was great too, and made a note of a branch near her house, thanking me for the good recommendation — which made me even happier!

If you've been looking for a solid BBQ spot near Gyodae to enjoy with drinks, I recommend this one!
